Verily, We have made this (Qur'án) easy, in thy tongue, in order that

they may give heed.

(The Smoke)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

١

1. Ha Mim.

٢ 
ِ ِ
ُْ‫ب ا‬
ِ َِْ‫وَا‬
2. By the Book that makes things clear --

٣ 
َ ‫َ ٍ! ﻡ"
َ َرآَ ٍ! ِإ آُ ﻡُ ِرِی‬#ْ َ $ِ% &ُ َْ'َ َ‫ِإ أ‬
3. We sent it down during a blessed night:
for We (ever) wish to warn (against Evil).

ٍ َِ *ٍ ْ‫ َأﻡ‬+" ُ‫ق آ‬

ُ *َ ْ-ُ‫َ ی‬. ِ%
4. In that (night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom,

َ ِ#ِ0ْ*ُ‫َ ِإ آُ ﻡ‬1ِ ِ2 ْ3‫َأﻡْ*ًا ﻡ‬
5. By command, from Our presence.
For We (ever) send (revelations),

ُ ِ#َ6ْ‫ ا‬7ُ ِ8‫ ا‬9َ ُ‫< ِإ ُ; ه‬

َ 3‫ رﺏ‬3‫رَْَ ً! ﻡ‬
6. As a Mercy from thy Lord:
for He hears and knows (all things);

٧ 
َ ِِ?9"‫ُَ إِن آُُ
ﻡ‬.َْ َ‫ض َوﻡَ ﺏ‬
ِ ْ‫َر‬Bْ‫ت وَا‬
ِ ‫َوَا‬8‫ب ا‬
3 ‫َر‬
7. The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them,
if ye (but) have an assured faith.

َ ِ‫َ و‬Bْ‫ُِ ُ
ا‬Gَ‫ﺏ‬H ‫ب‬
" ‫ َرﺏ"ُ
ْ َو َر‬E
ُ ِُ‫ َوی‬$ِ ْFُ‫ ی‬9َ ُ‫َ ِإَ َ; ِإ ه‬
8. There is no god but He:
it is He Who gives life and gives death --
the Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors.

J َK $ِ% ْ
ُ‫ْ ه‬+َ‫ﺏ‬
9. Yet they play about in doubt.

ٍ ِ
"‫ن ﻡ‬
ٍ َQ1ُ ِ‫َء ﺏ‬8‫ ا‬$ِ‫ْﺕ‬Bَ‫ْ َم ﺕ‬9َ‫ْ ی‬OِPَ‫َرْﺕ‬%
10. Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly
visible.

ِ‫ََابٌ َأ‬2 ‫س هََا‬

َ ‫ ا‬VَWْXَ‫ی‬
11. Enveloping the people:
this will be a Penalty Grievous.

١٢ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُِ‫ْﻡ‬Yُ‫ب ِإ ﻡ‬
َ ‫ََا‬6ْ‫َ ا‬2 ْZِWْ‫َرﺏَ اآ‬
12. (They will say:)
"Our Lord! remove the Penalty from us for We do really believe!"

١٣ ٌ ِ
"‫لٌ ﻡ‬9ُ0‫ْ \َءهُ
ْ َر‬1َ?‫آْ*َى َو‬3 ‫ُ ُ
ا‬.َ V‫َأ‬
13. How shall the Message be (effectual) for them, seeing that a Messenger explaining things
clearly has (already) come to them --

١٤ ٌ‫ن‬9ُْ^‫
ٌ ﻡ‬#َ6ُ‫ا ﻡ‬9َُ?‫َْ ُ; َو‬2 ‫ْا‬99َ َ‫_ُ 
ﺕ‬

14. Yet they turn away from him and say:
"Tutored (by others), a man possessed!"

١٥ ‫ن‬
َ ‫ُو‬1ِGَ2 ْ
ُ‫ً ِإ‬# ِ#َ? ‫ب‬
ِ ‫ََا‬6ْ‫ ا‬9ُ-ِKَ‫ِإ آ‬
15. We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while,
(but) truly ye will revert (to your ways).

١٦ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُِPَُ‫َ َ! اُْ
ْ*َى ِإ ﻡ‬Wْ`َ
ْ‫ ا‬a
ُ ِ`ْ
َ ‫ْ َم‬9َ‫ی‬
16. One day We shall seize you with a mighty onslaught:
We will indeed (then) exact Retribution!

١٧ ٌ
‫لٌ آَ*ِی‬9ُ0‫ن َو\َءهُ
ْ َر‬

َ ْ9َ2ْ*ِ% ‫ْ َم‬9َ? ْ
ُ.َ#ْ
َ? ََ% ْ1َPَ‫َو‬
17. We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh:
there came to them and messenger most honorable,

١٨ ٌ ِ‫لٌ َأﻡ‬9ُ0‫ َُ
ْ َر‬$3‫ ِ; ِإ‬#‫ِ

َ َد ا‬2 $
 َ‫َأنْ َأد"وا ِإ‬
18. Saying:
"Restore to me the servants of Allah: I am to you an messenger worthy of all trust;

ٍ َ`ْ#ُ8ِ‫ﺕِ ُ
ﺏ‬H $3‫ ِ; ِإ‬#‫ ا‬Vَ#َ2 ‫ا‬9ُ#ْ6َ‫َوَأنْ  ﺕ‬
19. "And be not arrogant as against Allah:
for I come to you with authority manifest.

ْ أَن ﺕ‬3‫ َو َرﺏ‬$3‫ت ﺏِ َ*ﺏ‬
ُ ُْ2 $3‫َوِإ‬
20. "For me, I have sought Safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me.

٢١ ‫ن‬
ِ 9ُ'ِ َْ2َ% $ِ ‫ا‬9ُِ‫ْﻡ‬Yُ‫َوِإنْ 
ْ ﺕ‬
21. "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me."

٢٢ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ‫ْمٌ ﻡ"^ْ ِ*ﻡ‬9َ? ‫َء‬Yُ َ‫ن ه‬
 ‫َ َرﺏ ُ; َأ‬21َ َ%
22. (But they were aggressive):
then he cried to his Lord:
"These are indeed a people given to sin."

٢٣ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ6َ
"‫ً ِإُ
ﻡ‬#ْ َ ‫ِ
َدِي‬6ِ‫ْ ِ* ﺏ‬0َBَ%
23. (The reply came):
"March forth with My servants by night: for ye are sure to be pursued.

٢٤ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ?*َ ْX"‫ٌ ﻡ‬1ُ\ ْ
ُ.‫ًا ِإ‬9ْ‫ْ َ* َره‬Fَ
ْ‫وَاﺕْ ُ*كْ ا‬
24. "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided).
For they are a host (destined) to be drowned."

٢٥ ‫ن‬
ٍ 9ُ ُ2‫ت َو‬
ٍ َ\ ِ‫ا ﻡ‬9ُ‫آَ
ْ ﺕَ َ*آ‬
25. How many were the gardens and springs they left behind.

٢٦
ٍ ‫َ ٍم آَ*ِی‬Pَ‫ع َوﻡ‬

ٍ ‫َو ُزرُو‬
26. And corn-fields and noble buildings.

٢٧ 
َ ِ.ِ‫َآ‬% َ. ِ% ‫ا‬9َُ‫ْَ ٍ! آ‬6َ‫َو‬
27. And wealth (and conveniences of life), wherein they had taken such delight!

َ َِ َ‫آ‬
28. Thus (was their end)!

٢٨ 
َ ‫َ*ِی‬QH ً‫ْﻡ‬9َ? َ‫َوَأوْ َر_َْه‬
And We made other people inherit (those things)!

٢٩ 
َ ‫َ*ِی‬gُ‫ا ﻡ‬9َُ‫ض َوﻡَ آ‬
ُ ْ‫َر‬Bْ‫َء وَا‬8‫ِ ُ
ا‬.ْ َ#َ2 ْEََ‫ََ ﺏ‬%
29. And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them:
nor were they given a respite (again).

٣٠ 
ِ ِ.ُْ‫ب ا‬
ِ ‫ََا‬6ْ‫ ا‬
َ ِ‫ ﻡ‬+َ ِG‫ْ*َا‬0‫ ِإ‬$َِ‫ْ َ^ َْ ﺏ‬1َPَ‫َو‬
30. We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,

‫ن‬
َ ْ9َ2ْ*ِ% ِ‫ﻡ‬
31. Inflicted by Pharaoh,

َ 3‫َِ ً ﻡ‬2 ‫ن‬
َ َ‫ِإ ُ; آ‬
for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.

٣٢ 
َ ِََ6ْ‫ ا‬Vَ#َ2
ٍ ْ#ِ2 Vَ#َ2 ْ
ُ‫َْ*َْه‬Q‫ ا‬1ِ َPَ‫َو‬
32. And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,

٣٣ ٌ ِ
"‫َء ﻡ‬#َ‫ِ ِ; ﺏ‬% َ‫ت ﻡ‬
ِ َ‫ی‬hْ‫ ا‬
َ 3‫ﺕَ َْهُ
ﻡ‬Hَ‫و‬
33. And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial.

٣٤ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ9ُPَ َ ‫َء‬Yُ َ‫ن ه‬
 ‫ِإ‬
34. As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:

٣٥ 
َ ‫َ*ِی‬Wُِ‫ ﺏ‬
ُ ْFَ َ‫ َوﻡ‬Vَ‫ُو‬Bْ‫ْﺕََُ ا‬9َ‫ ِإ ﻡ‬$
َ ِ‫ِإنْ ه‬
35. "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.

٣٦ 
َ ِ?‫َ ِد‬i ْ
ُُ‫َِ إِن آ‬Gَ‫ﺏ‬hِ‫ا ﺏ‬9ُ‫ْﺕ‬Bَ%
36. "Then bring (back) our forefathers if what ye say is true!"

٣٧ 
َ ِ‫ا ﻡُ^ْ ِ*ﻡ‬9َُ‫ُ
ْ آ‬.‫ََْهُ
ْ ِإ‬#ْ‫ِ
ْ َأه‬.ِ#ْ
َ? ِ‫ ﻡ‬
َ ‫ وَاِی‬7ٍ 
ُ‫ْ ُم ﺕ‬9َ? ْ‫َ ْ*ٌ َأم‬Q ْ
ُ‫َأه‬
37. What! are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them?
We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.

٣٨ 
َ ِ
ِ2َ َُ.َْ َ‫ض َوﻡَ ﺏ‬
َ ْ‫َر‬Bْ‫ت وَا‬
ِ ‫َوَا‬8‫َْ ا‬Pَ#َQ َ‫َوﻡ‬
38. We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:

٣٩ ‫ن‬
َ 9ُَ#ْ6َ‫َ َ*هُ
ْ َ ی‬jْ‫ َأآ‬
 َِ‫ َو‬k
3 َFِْ‫َْهُَ ِإ ﺏ‬Pَ#َQ َ‫ﻡ‬
39. We created them not except for just ends:
but most of them do not understand.

٤٠ 
َ ِ6َْ\‫ُ
ْ َأ‬.ُ‫َﺕ‬P ِ‫ ﻡ‬+ِ ْlَ-ْ‫ْ َم ا‬9َ‫ن ی‬
 ‫ِإ‬
40. Verily the Day of Sorting Out is the time appointed for all of them --

٤١ ‫ن‬
َ ‫َ*ُو‬lُ‫ً َوَ هُ
ْ ی‬mْ َK Vًْ9‫َ ﻡ‬2 Vًْ9َ‫ ﻡ‬$ِْXُ‫ْ َم َ ی‬9َ‫ی‬
41. The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive.

;ُ #‫ِإ ﻡَ رِ َ
ا‬

42. Except such as receive Allah's Mercy:

٤٢
ُ ِ* ‫َ'ِی ُ' ا‬6ْ‫ ا‬9َ ُ‫ِإ ُ; ه‬

for He is exalted in Might, Most Merciful.

 ‫ِإ‬
43. Verily the tree of Zaqqum

٤٤
ِ ِ_َBْ‫َ ُم ا‬6َo

44. Will be the food of the Sinful --

٤٥ ‫ن‬
ِ 9ُ`ُ
ْ‫ ا‬$ِ% $ِ#ْXَ‫ ی‬+ِ ْ.ُَْ‫آ‬
45. Like molten brass; it will boil in their insides,

٤٦
ِ ِَFْ‫ ا‬$

ِ ْ#َXَ‫آ‬
46. Like the boiling of scalding water.

٤٧
ِ ِFَ^ْ‫َاء ا‬9َ0 Vَ‫ ُ& ِإ‬9ُ#ِْ2َ% &ُ ‫ُُو‬Q

47. (A voice will cry:)
"Seize ye him and drag him into the midst of the Blazing Fire!

٤٨
ِ ِَFْ‫ب ا‬
ِ ‫ََا‬2 ِْ‫ِ ِ; ﻡ‬0ْ‫ق َرأ‬
َ ْ9َ% ‫ا‬9"
ُi
 ُ_
48. "Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water;

٤٩
ُ ‫َ'ِی ُ' اَْ*ِی‬6ْ‫ ا‬E

َ َ‫< أ‬
َ ‫ُذقْ ِإ‬
49. "Taste thou (this)!
Truly wast thou Mighty, full of honor!

٥٠ ‫ن‬
َ ‫ن هََا ﻡَ آُُ
ﺏِ ِ; ﺕََْ*ُو‬
 ‫ِإ‬
50. "Truly this is what ye used to doubt!"

٥١ 
ٍ ِ‫َ ٍم َأﻡ‬Pَ‫ ﻡ‬$ِ% 
َ ِPُْ‫ن ا‬
 ‫ِإ‬
51. As to the Righteous (they will be) in a position of Security,

٥٢ ‫ن‬
ٍ 9ُ ُ2‫ت َو‬
ٍ َ\ $ِ%
52. Among Gardens and Springs;

٥٣ 
َ ِ#ِ‫َﺏ‬Pَ"‫ق ﻡ‬
ٍ *َ ْ
َْ0‫س َوِإ‬
ٍ 1ُ ُ0 ِ‫ن ﻡ‬
َ 9ُ8َ
ْ#َ‫ی‬
53. Dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, they will face each other;

َ َِ َ‫آ‬
54. So;

٥٤
ٍ ِ2 ‫ ٍر‬9ُFِ‫َو َز و\َْهُ
ﺏ‬
and We shall Join them to Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes.

٥٥ 
َ ِِ‫ﻡ‬H !ٍ َ.ِ‫َآ‬% +3 ُِ‫َ ﺏ‬. ِ% ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ2ْ1َ‫ی‬
55. There can they call for every kind of fruit in peace and security;

َ ‫ََا‬2 ْ
ُ‫ َو َو?َه‬Vَ‫ُو‬Bْ‫ْﺕَ َ! ا‬9َْ‫ت ِإ ا‬
َ ْ9َْ‫َ ا‬. ِ% ‫ن‬
َ 9ُ?‫َ یَُو‬
56. Nor will they there taste Death, except the first Death;
and He will preserve them from the Penalty of the Blazing Fire

٥٧
ُ ِgَ6ْ‫ْ ُز ا‬9َ-ْ‫ ا‬9َ ُ‫< ه‬

َ ِ‫< َذ‬
َ 3‫ رﺏ‬3‫ً ﻡ‬#ْqَ%
57. As a Bounty from thy Lord!
That will be the supreme achievement!

٥٨ ‫ن‬
َ ‫ُ
ْ یََ َآ*ُو‬.#َ6َ <
َ َِ8ِ#ِ‫*َْ ُ& ﺏ‬8َ‫َ ی‬rِ َ%
58. Verily, We have made this (Qur'án) easy, in thy tongue, in order that they may give heed.

ﻡ"*ْﺕ‬.‫ْ ِإ‬OِPَ‫َرْﺕ‬%
59. So wait thou and watch;
for they (too) are waiting.
