1.3 Buttons
From any screen, you can:
Touch to return to the previous screen or close the current application.
Touch to return to the home screen.
Touch to display recently used applications.
If the hide navigation bar function is enabled, touch to hide the navigation bar and
flick up from the bottom of the screen to display it. You can enable or disable this
function under .
Press the power button once to turn the screen on or off. Press and hold the power button
for 10 seconds or more to restart your phone.
Press the power and volume down buttons at the same time to take a screenshot.

1.4 Installation
The battery cover on your P6 is irremovable.
Your P6 supports micro-SIM cards. To purchase or replace a micro-SIM card, contact
your operator.
Your P6 supports microSD cards.
To install a SIM card or microSD card, insert the end of the eject tool into the hole next
to the micro-SIM or microSD card tray to release it. Then, follow the directions on the
card tray to install the micro-SIM or microSD card correctly.
After you complete those steps, you are now ready to begin using your P6. Press and hold the
power button for a few seconds to power the phone on.

Do not remove the micro-SIM card when your P6 is not powered off.

Do not misplace the micro-SIM or microSD card to avoid network registration failures.
Be careful when using the eject tool to avoid hurting yourself or damaging the phone. Keep
the eject tool away from children.
1.5 Home screen
The P6 employs Huawei Emotion UI. The home screen contains four screens by default. You
touch an application or widget to open it.
The home screen contains four areas from the top bottom.

Applications
Dock
Applications in this area do not change when you switch between screens.
To create a folder on the home screen, drag an application icon onto another. A folder
containing both applications is then created.

1.5.1 How do I add or delete a screen?
On the home screen, pinch your fingers together to display the thumbnails. You can then add
or delete a screen.

Your P6 does not support 3D screens.

1.5.2 How do I edit the home screen?
Touch and hold an application or widget to edit it. You can drag it to change its position or to
the trash bin to remove it from the home screen. If an application is dragged to the trash bin, it
will be uninstalled.

System applications cannot be uninstalled.
1.5.3 How do I add a widget to the home screen?
Touch and hold a blank area on the home screen to display the Set home screen option menu.
Touch Widgets. Touch and hold a widget and drag it to a blank area on the home screen.

Creating a contact
1. Go to Contacts, touch , and choose where to save the contact.
2. Enter the contact details and touch DONE to save the contact or CANCEL to not to save

Method 1: Go to Contacts and touch a contact to display the contact details. On the
contact details screen, touch the contact photo area and then Take photo or Choose
photo from Gallery.

Method 2: Go to Contacts, touch > , touch the contact photo area then
Take photo or Choose photo from Gallery.

You cannot assign a photo to a contact saved on the SIM card.
1.6.2 How do I import contacts to or export contacts from the SIM
card?
Importing contacts to the SIM card
1. Touch Contacts > > Manage contacts > Copy contacts > Phone.
2. Select the desired contacts, and touch Copy > SIM > OK.

Exporting contacts from a SIM card
1. Touch Contacts > > Manage contacts > Copy contacts > SIM.
2. Select the desired contacts, and touch Copy > Phone > OK.
1.6.3 How many contacts does my phone support?
At least 2000 contacts can be saved to your P6. The maximum number depends on the
available storage. The number of contacts that can be saved to your SIM card varies with the
SIM card.
1.6.4 How do I add a contact to a group?
Choose either of the following methods:
Method 1
On the contact details screen, touch Group name and select the desired group.

Touch Contacts > Groups, select the desired group, touch > Edit > to add a
contact to this group.

1.7 Text messages
1.7.1 How do I change the input method when editing a message?
On the message editing screen, touch the text box to bring up the onscreen keyboard. The
default input method is Huawei input method.

1.7.2 How do I forward a text message or send a text message to
multiple recipients?

Touch and hold a message, choose Forward from the displayed option menu, and choose a
recipient.

After you finish editing a message, touch , select the desired recipients, and touch
Add.

1.7.3 How many English or Chinese characters can be contained in
a long text message?
A long text message can contain a maximum of 1377 English characters or 603 Chinese
characters.
1.7.4 How many messages can be saved on my phone?
A conversation can contain a maximum of 500 text messages or 50 multimedia messages by
default. You can set the maximum numbers from Settings.
The number of messages that can be saved on your phone depends on your phone's available
storage only.
1.7.5 How do I set the MMS center number?
Your P6 does not support this function.
1.8 Multimedia messages
1.8.1 How do I send a multimedia message?
Step 1 On the message editing screen, touch , and compose your message.
Step 2 Choose the recipient.
Step 3 (Optional) Touch > Add subject. The message then changes to a multimedia message.
Step 4 Touch to add pictures, audio clips, or videos to the message.

Step 5 When you are done, touch .

1.8.2 I cannot send or receive multimedia messages. Why? How
can I solve this problem?
Your P6 may fail to send or receive multimedia messages due to any of the following reasons:
The network is busy, or the reception is not weak.
Solution: Try again later.
The message is denied by the network (MMS center).
Cause 1: The recipient number is invalid.
Solution: Check that the recipient number is correct and try again.
Cause 2: The multimedia message exceeds 300 KB.
Solution: Delete some content from the multimedia message to make sure that it is
within 300 KB, and try again.
The balance is insufficient.
Solution: Top up your account and try again.
Your phone's available storage is insufficient.
Solution: Delete some files from your phone to free up at least 300 KB storage.
1.8.3 Is there any restriction on the size, format, or resolution of
the file to be attached to a multimedia message?
If an audio or video file exceeds the size limit (generally 300 KB), it cannot be attached to a
message. If a picture is too large, it will be automatically compressed before being attached to
the message. As a result, the resolution of the picture attached to the message decreases.
1.8.4 Can I save attachments from multimedia messages?
Yes, you can. If you choose to save an attachment, the save path will be displayed on the
screen. For example, if you choose to save a picture or video, it will be saved to
/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera.

1.9 Calls
1.9.1 How do I record a call, and where do I save the recording?
Your P6 does not support this function.
1.9.2 How do I make a three-party call, and how do I switch
between calls?
Your P6 support three-party calls, which are a new service based on call waiting. When there
are two calls on your phone and another call is coming in, you need to group the current two
calls as a conference to answer the third call. A maximum of five parties can call you at the
same time.
To use this function, make sure your SIM supports the three-party call service. Check with
your operator for whether the call waiting function is enabled.
1.9.3 Does my phone support dual SIM cards?
No, it doesn't.
1.10 Music
1.10.1 How are my songs sorted?
Albums: Lists songs grouped by album.
Artists: Lists songs grouped by artist.
Songs: Lists all songs sorted by name.
Sad, Energetic, Serene, and Happy: Songs are sorted by genre.
Playlists: Contains the playlists you have created.
1.10.2 How do I create a playlist?
Step 1 On the My music screen, touch Playlists > Create new playlist.
Step 2 Enter the playlist name and touch Save.
Step 3 In the displayed dialog box, touch OK. Select the desired songs and touch ADD.

1.10.3 What playing modes does my phone support?
Play in order (by default): play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and stop playing
after all the files have been played.
Shuffle: play all audio files in a playlist in a random order and do not stop playing after
all the files have been played.
Repeat list: play all audio files in a playlist in sequence and repeat the playlist after all
the files have been played.
Repeat current song: play the current audio file repeatedly.
1.10.4 How do I play songs in the background, quit Music, and
view lyrics when songs are playing?
Playing songs in the background

Touch Music and start playing. Then touch the back or home key, and the song is
playing in the background.
Quitting Music
On the music playing screen, touch > Exit > OK.

Viewing lyrics when songs are playing.
Store the lyrics in the same folder as a song, the phone automatically loads the lyrics
while the song is playing. To view the lyrics, switch to the right screen.
1.11 Camera
1.11.1 If my phone has no microSD card installed, can I use it to
take pictures or record videos?
Yes.
1.11.2 My phone cannot open some photos or videos. Why?
The phone does not support the file format.
The phone's RAM is insufficient.
The file is corrupted.
The file is copyright-protected.
The phone's CPU usage is high. Close some running third-party applications and try
again.
Unknown errors occurred in the phone's OS or applications. Restart the phone and try
again.

1.11.3 Where are my photos and videos saved? Can I change the
save path?
You can choose to store your photos and videos to the phone or microSD card from Camera >
> > Preferred save location. The save path DCIM\Camera on the phone or
microSD card cannot be changed.

When the save location is the phone, go to File manager > Internal\DCIM\Camera to view
the saved pictures or videos.
When the save location is the microSD card, go to File Manager > SD card\DCIM\Camera
to view the saved pictures and videos.
1.11.4 How do I edit photos or videos or add frames to photos?
To edit a photo, touch the menu key and then choose to rotate, crop, or edit it.
Videos cannot be edited.
You cannot add frames to photos.
1.11.5 Does my phone support HD videos?
Yes. Your phone supports 1080p HD videos at 30 fps.
1.11.6 Can I turn off the shutter sound?
Touch > . Select Mute.

The supported video format is MP4. The video size depends on the available space of your
phone.
1.11.9 What picture formats and resolutions does Camera support?
The supported picture format is JPG and resolution is up to 3264x2448 pixels (80 MP).
1.12 Streaming media
1.12.1 Will my phone stop playing streaming media when a call
comes in? If yes, will it resume playing after the call ends?
The phone stops playing the streaming media when you have an incoming call.
If the call last for less than 3 minutes, the streaming media automatically resumes
playing. Otherwise, manual operation is required.
1.12.2 My phone cannot play some streaming media. Why?
The phone does not support the file format.
Your phone supports the following audiovisual encoding formats and file formats:
Video encoding: MPEG4, H.263, and H.264
Audio encoding: AAC and AMR-NB/WB
File formats: 3GP and MP4
Maximum encoding rate: 4 Mbit/s
The network connection is unstable.
Your phone's available internal storage is insufficient.
1.12.3 What may cause poor quality of online streaming media
played on my phone?
The source streaming media is of poor quality.
The network connection is poor.
The phone's hardware may be faulty, for example, the display is damaged.
To check this, use another device to play the online streaming media for comparison.
The phone's available storage is insufficient.
The CPU usage is high.
Too many applications are running.

3.3 My phone runs slowly. What can I do?

No. You can install a third-party application to implement this function.
3.5 How do I enter recovery mode and restore my phone to
its factory settings?
When an upgrade package is available on your microSD card or the download for an online
upgrade is complete, with the phone off, press the power and volume down keys to enter
recovery mode. In recovery mode, you can press the volume keys to select the desired option.
To restore your phone to its factory settings, touch Settings > Backup & reset > Factory
data reset and touch Reset phone.
3.6 Can I scan a 2-dimensional barcode with my phone?
Yes, but you need to download a 2-dimensional barcode application first.
3.7 Does my phone support 3D acceleration?
Yes. To enable 3D acceleration, touch Settings > Developer options and select Force GPU
rendering.

If the battery is removed for more than 20 seconds, the date and time are restored to their
default settings. If your phone obtains the date and time from your operator's network when it
powers on and registers with the network, it does not further access the Internet to
synchronize the date and time and does not generate data traffic.
