1.3 Buttons
From any screen, you can:
Touch to return to the previous screen or close the current application.
Touch to return to the home screen.
Touch to display recently used applications.
If the hide navigation bar function is enabled, touch to hide the navigation bar and
flick up from the bottom of the screen to display it. You can enable or disable this
function under .
Press the power button once to turn the screen on or off. Press and hold the power button
for 10 seconds or more to restart your phone.
Press the power and volume down buttons at the same time to take a screenshot.

1.4 Installation
The battery cover on your P6 is irremovable.
Your P6 supports micro-SIM cards. To purchase or replace a micro-SIM card, contact
your operator.
Your P6 supports microSD cards.
To install a SIM card or microSD card, insert the end of the eject tool into the hole next
to the micro-SIM or microSD card tray to release it. Then, follow the directions on the
card tray to install the micro-SIM or microSD card correctly.
After you complete those steps, you are now ready to begin using your P6. Press and hold the
power button for a few seconds to power the phone on.

Do not remove the micro-SIM card when your P6 is not powered off.

Do not misplace the micro-SIM or microSD card to avoid network registration failures.
Be careful when using the eject tool to avoid hurting yourself or damaging the phone. Keep
the eject tool away from children.
1.5 Home screen
The P6 employs Huawei Emotion UI. The home screen contains four screens by default. You
touch an application or widget to open it.
The home screen contains four areas from the top bottom.

Applications in this area do not change when you switch between screens.
To create a folder on the home screen, drag an application icon onto another. A folder
containing both applications is then created.

1.5.2 How do I edit the home screen?
Touch and hold an application or widget to edit it. You can drag it to change its position or to
the trash bin to remove it from the home screen. If an application is dragged to the trash bin, it
will be uninstalled.



System applications cannot be uninstalled.

Touch and hold a blank area on the home screen to display the Set home screen option menu.

Assigning a photo to a contact
Method 1: Go to Contacts and touch a contact to display the contact details. On the
contact details screen, touch the contact photo area and then Take photo or Choose
photo from Gallery.

Method 2: Go to Contacts, touch > , touch the contact photo area then
Take photo or Choose photo from Gallery.

You cannot assign a photo to a contact saved on the SIM card.

Exporting contacts from a SIM card
1. Touch Contacts > > Manage contacts > Copy contacts > SIM.
2. Select the desired contacts, and touch Copy > Phone > OK.
1.6.3 How many contacts does my phone support?
At least 2000 contacts can be saved to your P6. The maximum number depends on the
available storage. The number of contacts that can be saved to your SIM card varies with the
SIM card.
1.6.4 How do I add a contact to a group?
Choose either of the following methods:

1.7.3 How many English or Chinese characters can be contained in
a long text message?
A long text message can contain a maximum of 1377 English characters or 603 Chinese
characters.
1.7.4 How many messages can be saved on my phone?
A conversation can contain a maximum of 500 text messages or 50 multimedia messages by
default. You can set the maximum numbers from Settings.
The number of messages that can be saved on your phone depends on your phone's available
storage only.
1.7.5 How do I set the MMS center number?
Your P6 does not support this function.
1.8 Multimedia messages
1.8.1 How do I send a multimedia message?
Step 1 On the message editing screen, touch , and compose your message.
Step 2 Choose the recipient.
Step 3 (Optional) Touch > Add subject. The message then changes to a multimedia message.
Step 4 Touch to add pictures, audio clips, or videos to the message.

1.8.2 I cannot send or receive multimedia messages. Why? How
can I solve this problem?
Your P6 may fail to send or receive multimedia messages due to any of the following reasons:
The network is busy, or the reception is not weak.
Solution: Try again later.
The message is denied by the network (MMS center).
Cause 1: The recipient number is invalid.
Solution: Check that the recipient number is correct and try again.
Cause 2: The multimedia message exceeds 300 KB.
Solution: Delete some content from the multimedia message to make sure that it is
within 300 KB, and try again.
The balance is insufficient.
Solution: Top up your account and try again.
Your phone's available storage is insufficient.
Solution: Delete some files from your phone to free up at least 300 KB storage.
1.8.3 Is there any restriction on the size, format, or resolution of
the file to be attached to a multimedia message?
If an audio or video file exceeds the size limit (generally 300 KB), it cannot be attached to a
message. If a picture is too large, it will be automatically compressed before being attached to
the message. As a result, the resolution of the picture attached to the message decreases.
1.8.4 Can I save attachments from multimedia messages?
Yes, you can. If you choose to save an attachment, the save path will be displayed on the
screen. For example, if you choose to save a picture or video, it will be saved to
/storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera.

1.9 Calls
1.9.1 How do I record a call, and where do I save the recording?
Your P6 does not support this function.
1.9.2 How do I make a three-party call, and how do I switch
between calls?
Your P6 support three-party calls, which are a new service based on call waiting. When there
are two calls on your phone and another call is coming in, you need to group the current two
calls as a conference to answer the third call. A maximum of five parties can call you at the
same time.
To use this function, make sure your SIM supports the three-party call service. Check with
your operator for whether the call waiting function is enabled.
1.9.3 Does my phone support dual SIM cards?
No, it doesn't.
1.10 Music
1.10.1 How are my songs sorted?
Albums: Lists songs grouped by album.
Artists: Lists songs grouped by artist.
Songs: Lists all songs sorted by name.
Sad, Energetic, Serene, and Happy: Songs are sorted by genre.
Playlists: Contains the playlists you have created.
1.10.2 How do I create a playlist?

2.2.3 Why can't I open web pages when my phone is connected to
a Wi-Fi network?
Possible causes are as follows:
The x digital subscriber line (xDSL) connection failed. If the hotspot (such as a wireless
router) your phone connects to accesses the Internet through xDSL and the xDSL
connection fails, the Internet access is unavailable. Check the xDSL connection and try
again.
A domain name service (DNS) problem occurred. In this case, web pages cannot be
opened, but you may still log in to an instant messaging (IM) client. Attempt to log in to
an IM client to verify the problem.
The websites that the Wi-Fi hotspot can access are restricted.
2.2.4 I have turn on WLAN on my phone, but it cannot detect
signals from Wi-Fi hotspots. What can I do?

Change the Wi-Fi sleep policy as follows: Touch Settings > WLAN. Touch >

By default, Always is selected for Keep WLAN on during sleep. If the settings are modified,
your phone disconnects from the Wi-Fi network when its screen turns off. The following
describes the three options of Keep WLAN on during sleep:
Always: Never disconnect a Wi-Fi connection.
Only when plugged in: Never disconnect a Wi-Fi connection when the phone is
charging. If the phone is not charging, it disconnects a Wi-Fi connection when it has
been idle for 3 minutes.

When your phone uses DHCP to access the Internet through Wi-Fi, it must wait for the router
to assign it a dynamic IP address first, which takes time. By specifying a static IP address for

2.5 Can my phone work as a modem to provide Internet

Step 1 Touch Settings > More... > Tethering & portable hotspot and turn on USB tethering.
