Welcome
We would like to welcome our new Executive Chef, Azaria Samuel along with our new Community Relations
Manager, Gina Moore to the Thornhill Woods Team. We look forward to getting to know them in the future and
welcome them to the community.
Stratford
We went on a wonderful road trip to the Stratford
Festival to see the amazing musical, Crazy For You.
This musical is a romantic love story and is largely
based on the 1930s musical Girl Crazy as well as
incorporates songs from several other productions.
Our Community Members joined V!VA Pickering,
drove up to the Niagara area and had a picnic lunch
before watching the musical. What a wonderful day
it was!
Orillia Boat Cruise
This month our Community Members went on a trip
to Orillia to enjoy a boat cruise on Lake Couchiching.
We boarded the ship and had a two hour cruise,
ate lunch on the open water and felt the breeze on
our backs. Join us next month when we visit Lake
Scugog, for another lunch boat cruise. Look in your
August calendar for details.
Bazaar
This month V!VA Thornhill Woods hosted a bazaar that
offered the community and local vendors a chance to
display their goods. We had jewellery, arts and crafts, baked
good, clothes and skin care products available for purchase.
Community Member Council Elections:
July we hosted our annual Community Member Council
elections. We would like to thank all of the hard work
that the previous council has done over the last year,
such as implementing the construction of the washroom
closer to the dining room. We want to welcome in the
new Council; President Perry Smith, Vice President Jack
Cooper Secretary and Treasurer Charlie Panovka and
wish them all the best in the times coming forward. We
will have our first Community Member Forum Meeting
with the new council on Thursday August 14th in the
V!VAplex and encourage all of V!VA Thornhill Woods
Community Members to attend.
V!VA Olympics
V!VA Olympics is back. This year, we will be competing
with V!VA Pickering and V!VA Thornhill Woods in V!VA
Olympics. The three events are:
1. Shot Putt. 2. Ladder Ball. 3. Ball Toss
Top two winners of each event will be competing in the
finals. V!VA Mississauga will be hosting the V!VA Olympic
Closing Ceremony on August 25 and medals will be
awarded. Come and watch the ceremonies.
Flash Mob Blurb
V!VA Mississauga, V!VA Pickering, The Meadowlands
& V!VA Thornhill Woods, are looking to create
a Flash Mob routine for Active Aging Week this
September 21st 27th .
If you can tap your toes, clap your hands, and smile
BIG, we want you!
Join the Flash Mob Team and help us create a routine
to WOW the general public. Please see contact the
Lifestyles department for more details.
