General Product Description

Weldox 420 is a general structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 420 MPa. Typical applications are demanding
loadbearing structures, mechanical constructions and structural steel works.
Available dimensions
Weldox 420 is available in plate thicknesses of 8.0 80.0 mm.
Other dimensions to be agreed with SSAB.

Thickness
Tolerances according to SSABs thickness precision guarantee AccuRollTech.
AccuRollTech meets the requirements of EN 10029 Class A, but ofers narrower tolerances.
Length and width
According to SSABs dimensions program. Tolerances conforms with EN 10029 or to SSABs standard after agreement.
Shape
SSABs ofers tolerances according to EN 10029
Flatness
According to SSABs flatness tolerances, which are more narrow than EN 10029.
Surface Properties
According to EN 10163-2 Class A, Subclass 1.
Delivery Conditions
The delivery condition is M (Thermomechanical treatment) or Q+T (Quenched and Tempered). The plates are delivered with
sheared or thermally cut edges. Mill edges delivery possible.

Weldox 420 has obtained its mechanical properties by quenching and subsequent tempering. The properties of the delivery
condition cannot be retained after exposure to temperatures in excess of 580C.
Appropriate health and safety precautions must be taken when welding, cutting, grinding or otherwise working on this product.
Grinding, especially of primer coated plates, may produce dust with a high particle concentration.
