Current research concludes that the combination of
regular exercise (i.e., strength training and aerobic
activity) and supplemental nutrition (post-exercise
protein/carbohydrate snack, daily calcium, daily
vitamin D,soy) represents a relatively comprehensive
and productive approach for enhancing
musculoskeletal fitness by increasing lean weight and
bone mineral density, and for reducing
cardiovascular risk factors (i.e., decreasing resting
systolic blood pressure and resting diastolic blood
pressure) in adults and older adults. In short, this
study determined that exercise and nutritional
supplementation may be more effective than exercise
alone for increasing lean weight and for reducing
resting blood pressure. Ingesting a
protein/carbohydrate snack shortly after each
strength training session may enhance lean weight
gain and muscle development.

1. First go outside and exercise! Get off the machines
and enjoy the fresh air!
2. Start your summer exercise today with a 30-minute
walk. Walk daily during your lunch break or
before/after work. On the weekends find a state or
national park and challenge yourself with a one or
two hour hike through the woods.
3. Choose a sport that you enjoy such as biking,
hiking, tennis, golf, swimming, volleyball or softball
and invite a few friends or family members to join
you!
4. Begin doing a 20-minute light weight-training
workout 3 days a week. Build and maintain lean
muscle in order to burn fat and speed up your
metabolism.
5. Can you dance? Even if you cant, dancing is fun,
burns tons of calories and music makes exercise more
fun!

Gardening tips using Basic H2
Shaklee Basic H is an all organic, biodegradable
wetting agent developed In harmony with
nature and good health.

What does Basic H2 do?

1. As a wetting agent (surfactant), it increases the
rate at which water penetrates soil reducing runoff
and loss of evaporation.

2. This deeper penetration of water into the soil
causes roots to reach deeper for the moisture
which creates sturdier root systems during dry
seasons and less drought damage.

3. Basic H has a pH of 6.5 which appears to have
the ability to neutralize acid soils and also bring
alkaline soils to balance. When soil is in balance
earthworm activity increases which in return
aerates the soil, increases fertility, and improves
water penetration. Earthworms produce minerals
and nutrients as they burrow through the soil every
day. They burrow holes for oxygen which loosens
the soil creating that important nutrient nitrogen.

4. Basic H acts as a nutrient release (tests have
shown that gardens treated with Basic H have
more trace elements and minerals available to
the plant).

5. Basic H2 also acts as a natural pesticide since
90% of insects have an oil coating and Basic His

How to use Basic H2

*Spring before planting: With an ortho sprayer
apply 1 cup of Basic H to every 5,000 sq. feet of garden.
*Fall after harvest: Same instruction for Spring above.
Planting: Mix tablespoon Basic H in a gallon of
water. Pour this in the ground before dropping seeds.

House Plants:
When potting new plants, use 1 tablespoon of Basic H
per gallon of water. For added trace minerals, dissolve
12 Shaklee Alfalfa tablets in the water.
Once a month add 2 drops of Basic H to 2 cups of
water (dissolve 3 Shaklee Alfalfa tablets in
the water for trace minerals.)

Insect Control
NEVER spray plants with Basic H while they
Are in blossom. The wetting action will wash
the pollen away. It is always best to spray in the evening
when the sun is down, or on a cloudy day.

Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower Worms:
Add teaspoon of Basic H in 16 oz. of water.
Spray plants each week or every 10 days until
the worms are no longer a problem.

For plants
Mix concentrate of 1/4 cup Shaklee Basic G +
3/8 cup Shaklee Basic H
Fill ortho sprayer with concentrate -set the dial at 1 and
spray a dilute mixture of 1 tablespoon of concentrate per
gallon of water. For hard to kill bugs or beetles, set the
ortho sprayer dial at 2.

Rose Bushes & Tomatoes:
Add 6 drops of Basic H to 16 oz. sprayer. This will
protect against aphids, spiders, etc.
