In the medieval times if you committed a crime such as stealing to
even murder you had to be punished. The most popular
punishments would include fines, shaming, multination, torture or usually death. If you were accused of a crime, you would be taken to the Kings Court to decide weather you were guilty or not.
Fines: You would be fined a certain amount of money to pay for your crime.
Shaming: You would be placed in stocks to show people that you had committed a crime.
Multination: Someone would cut off a part of your body such as your arm or leg.
Torture: You would be put through a lot of pain, and the torture would usually end in death.
Death: In the Kings Court, the accused would be trailed by ordeal to find out if you were guilty or innocent. The ordeal would often end in death.
KINGS COURT IN THE KINGS COURT YOU WOULD BE TRIALLED BY EITHER WATER OR FIRE TO FIND OUT WEATHER YOUU WERE GUILTY OR INNOCENT.
Ordeal by water: The accused person would have their hands and feet would be tied up and they would be thrown into water. If they floated they were guilty and if they drowned they were innocent.
Ordeal by fire: They had to pick up a red hot iron bar and walk three or four paces whilst holding it in their hand. Their hand was then bandaged and in three days they had to return to the court and remove the bandages. If the wound was beginning to heal, they were innocent. If the wound hadn't started to heal yet, they were pronounced guilty. Top 10 Crazy Punishments
1. The Brazen bull You would be locked in metal bull and a fire would be set under it and you would die in the metal bull.
2. The Rat Torture Imagine being having your hands and legs tied down and your stomach is covered with a metal container with a rat in it. The container is heated slowly and the rat tries to get out, so it eats through the container and through your digestive system.
3. Head Crusher The victims head would be placed in the middle of this device and it would be slowly crushed the closer it came together. It would crush their teeth as well while is compresses the skull. This would happen for hours until their eyeballs popped out of their sockets.
4. The Rack The rack is a wood plank with ropes at the top and the bottom attached to the victims feet and hands. A person would crank the handle and the ropes would pull the victims arms and legs out of their sockets.
5. Judas Cradle This piece of equipment created lots of agony for the victim. The anus or private part of the victim was put over the point of the cradle. Then the person was lowered onto it with ropes. This torture could be held over hours or days. The victim usually wouldnt have cloths on and some times they would put weights on their ankles for fun. Also the cradle wouldnt be washed so the victim might catch an extremely bad disease.
6. Knee Splinter The knee splinter was made to destroy the victims knees and any other joints. If often didnt cause death but it was extremely painful and was only the beginning of the victims torture. Their knee would be put in a metal jaw shaped contraption and the jaw would close very tightly.
7. Torture by saw All you needed for this torture was a two man saw and a rope to hang the victim from the tree by their feet. The victim would be held upside down so all their blood would rush to their head, so that they would be conscious for more time. Two people would saw down through the person.
8. The Breaking Wheel The victim would be tied to a wooden wheel. The wheel would be turned and a person (the torturer) would use an iron hammer to break their limbs and bones. Then the victim would be left on the wheel to die. Death would take usually 2-3 days.
9. Impaling The victim would sit on a very sharp pole and penetrate the anus and the abdomen. The poor victim would slide down the pole, although sometimes the pole would get stuck under the chin so they could slide no more. The death would take 1-3 days.
10. The Breast Ripper This torture was used on sinful or deceitful women only. These red-hot claws would be put on the victims breast and be ripped off, either pulling the breast off or shredding it.
