John )uda of the Fleischmanns Museum of Memories ad.ised that se.eral years ago the
Village recei.ed a grant from the 012onnor Foundation used for fi3ing the Museum roof&
4n recent con.ersation (ith ,eather at the Mar 'ro*ect, there (ere some funds that (ere
"asically left o.er& The Museum did not s%end all the funds that (ere allocated "ac
then& There is still 5674&00 remaining in that original allocation& 4t1s some(hat irregular,
"ut The 012onnor Foundation is o%en to re8%ur%osing the remaining funds& 9t this %oint
the Museum is in des%erate need of (indo( re%air or re%lacement& The Museum is
re:uesting the Village to as the 012onnor Foundation if the Museum can re%ur%ose that
money& The matching funds (ould come from the Museum1s regular yearly
a%%ro%riation from the Village so there (ould not "e any e3tra cost for the Village& The
re:uest to 012onnor should come from the Village of Fleischmanns since the Museum is

Mayor 'ascarella ad.ised that 'eggy Flls(orth is %retty adamant that the money is in
%lace and that the Village (ill "e a"le to go ahead& 9s (e get a "etter sense of the
a%%ro3imate cost, etc& 4t (ould "e good for )ela(are Fngineering to communicate (ith
'eg Flls(orth& 9s for the Tinder"o3, the %lan is to run a ne( cul.ert through the %aring
lot and fill the e3isting "o3 cul.ert (ith glo"al fill (hich is essentially concrete& Ee (ill
"e %utting in t(o ne( catch "asins across from the "all field + do some trenching& Mr&

Michele Sidrane ased the Village Board to recogniGe the many assets in this Village& Ee
ha.e an incredi"le collection of historic "uildings + landmared "uildings such as the
Sene !i"rary + 2ongregation Bnai 4srael, the Village 'ar and the Village 'ool&
Michele indicated that the %ool (as one of the things that had defined Fleischmanns for
decades& Fleischmanns First is asing that the Trustees recogniGe the Village 'ool as an
asset and if the Trustees (ould consider reallocation of resources that are sitting in
escro( accounts& Michele thought the Village really needed to esta"lish a committee to
e3%lore the issues regarding the %ool in terms ofHcan it "e reno.ated> can it "e restoredI
4f it cannot, ho( does one go a"out demolishing it and if it is demolished (hat the %lan
(ould "e for re%lacing it& Ms& Sidrane stated that the time has come to im%lement a %lan
and mo.e for(ard&
Village Trustee -rossman ad.ised that many %eo%le ha.e .oiced their concern and
interest a"out the %ool + (ant to see it o%en this season& 'eo%le ha.e offered to donate
time and money to correct the crac in the %ool& There is no %ro"lem (ith the %i%es& 4t1s
the %ool itself that is leaing& Ee met (ith )ela(are Fngineering, Je( /or Kural
Eater and Michael Myers at the %ool and that1s (hen Ms& -rossman learned that it (as
not a %i%e& 0n Saturday ,arriet -rossman met (ith 9ssem"lyman 'eter !o%eG (ho
came to the Fleischmanns %ool "efore he (ent to the ne( 9r.ille 'ool to s(im&
9ssem"lyman !o%eG (as .ery %ositi.e and stressed the im%ortance of the Village %ool&
Mr& !o%eG came (ith his (ife and there (ere four adults %resent, se.en children and Ms&
-rossman& 9ssem"lyman !o%eG1s technician ho%efully (ill come soon and (e can fi3
the (all of the %ool& Ee (ould ha.e to %aint it also& Ms& -rossman (ould lo.e to see the
%ool o%en in July& She is no( (aiting to hear from the 9ssem"lyman again& She thought
it (ould cost a%%ro3imately 511,000&00 to run the %ool for the season& Fleischmanns
'ool has its o(n defi"rillator, "ac"oard, + lifeguards (ho are an3ious to (or and
"usinesses that (ill "enefit from the %ool "eing o%en&
John -ranito ad.ised that the Village should focus its attention on %utting in a good %ool
.ersus s%ending money *ust to %atch a gunite %ool (hich has a re"ar frame(or that is
s%rayed o.er (ith a concrete + sand mi3ture& ,e said the Village should focus its
attention on remo.ing the %ool and %utting in a ne( %ool that (ill outlast all of us& To
s%end 511,000&00 *ust for immediate gratification so someone can s(im this summer is
not (orth it& The energy needs to go into re%lacing the %ool&
Mayor 'ascarella stated that the out%ouring in fa.or of the %ool s%eas for itself& Mayor
'ascarella did not (ant to get in the (ay of any effort either (ay& ,e (anted to gi.e "oth
the effort to get the %ool o%en this summer as much chance to (or as %ossi"le +
certainly he agreed that long term (ithout a ne( %ool (e (ould "e chasing our tail&
Mayor 'ascarella said the reason he %ushed closing this year (as that he didn1t thin it
(as res%onsi"le of the Village to continuously fill u% the %ool and then s%end funds on
heating fuel& For many years (e looed at the %ool e3%enses and running it (ith rosy
glasses on + su%%osedly it su%%orted itself, or made money, or (hate.er, and u%on my
tallying of the num"ers the last cou%le of years, realiGing that it lost 514,000&00 last year
and fuel is not any chea%er + la"or is not getting chea%er, and there are other one time
e3%enses that (ill also %o% u%& The money (as *ust not in the "udget this year to %ay for
the "ills and if "ills start coming in "ecause (e o%en the %ool + our hearts u%, and (e
don1t ha.e the money to %ay them, (e are going to ha.e a serious %ro"lem& 9s long as
that is not going to "e detrimental to the Village1s finances, (e can focus on the real long

term issue, (hich is getting a re%lacement %ool& This is a "ad summer for Ben*amin
Fenton + 4 to focus on this "ecause (e already ha.e all the as%ects of the %ar that (e
are focusing on getting re"uilt this .ery short construction season& Ee can1t lose focus of
that or (e (ill lose that money fore.er&
