The DC Essentials Module outlines the different methods of settlement available in international trade before going on to examine the operation of documentary credits in detail. The trainee is introduced to the UCP 600 rules and ISBP International Standard Banking Practice for the Examination of Documents under Documentary Credits subject to UCP 600. The trainee is provided with an overview of the operation of documentary credits - through the documentary credit cycle. The terms and conditions that are included in documentary credits are reviewed and a detailed analysis is provided of the roles and responsibilities of the parties to documentary credits. On completing this module, the trainee should understand the operation of documentary credits, be familiar with the terms and conditions of documentary credits and understand the roles of the parties involved. Documents Module There are 11 lessons in the Documents Module which represent approximately 6 hours of online training. The Documents Module examines the various documents that are presented under documentary credits and the provisions of UCP 600 that govern the data included in the documents. The trainee is made familiar with the standards that banks use in examining presentations made under documentary credits to establish compliance. Each type of document that can be required under documentary credits is examined commercial invoices, transport documents, insurance documents and other documents. The trainee is provided with details on the function and purpose of each document before the relevant provision of UCP 600 is highlighted for each section of the document. Page 4 of 9 Case Studies Module The Case Studies Module presents 5 interactive case studies. The case studies cover key aspects of documentary credit work, including: applying for a documentary credit; reviewing the terms and conditions of a credit for workability; and examining a presentation of documents from the perspective of a nominated bank, a confirming bank and an issuing bank. These case studies provide the trainee with the opportunity to practice their knowledge and skills in the operation of documentary credits and the application of UCP 600 in life-like scenarios. On completion of this module, the trainee should appreciate how their documentary credit skills are applied in a working environment. Assessment Module The Assessment Module provides a comprehensive assessment for trainees to test their knowledge in documentary credits and the application of the UCP 600 rules. Each instance of the Assessment is a random selection of 40 questions from an extensive questions database so each attempt will produce a different set of questions for the trainee. Detailed feedback is provided indicating the correct answers, the specific rules of UCP 600 being examined and the lessons of the course, if any, to be revised. The results of the trainees' first 3 attempts of the Assessment are recorded. Each trainee receives an ICC Certificate that indicates their highest score from the first 3 attempts. The assessment continues to be available to users on an ongoing basis but the results are not recorded and no further ICC Certificate is issued. If a trainee is satisfied with their score prior to attempting the assessment 3 times, they may request the Certificate by clicking the Request Certificate button on this page. Certificates are forwarded on a monthly basis. Key benefits ICC Approved Training In house training that is inconsistent across locations can lead to differences in the levels of service offered to customers. Mentor 600 enables you to train all of your staff to an ICC approved standard. No Scheduling Headaches Coordination of training can be a tough logistical challenge (the classroom, the trainer, the materials, the equipment, the staff/trainees have traditionally had to converge in one place at one time). Mentor is delivered on-line and so can be used anytime and anywhere. Individual Progress Tracking It is often difficult to gauge the benefit of the training that your staff receive. Mentor 600 tracks the progress of each student individually. You can follow the lessons that each student has attempted and the grades achieved in each of the assessments within the course. And, all students that successfully complete Mentor 600 receive an ICC Certificate that details their results within the course assessment.
