Install Notes
Before you install the software, you must determine if there are possible conflicts between the Process Industries BUS layer and existing modifications in your VAR, CUS, and/or USR layers. For example, if you have the Rapid Configuration Tool installed, you will need to do some customization to have it co-exist with Process Industries. If you already have a BUS layer which has customizations or other modules residing in it, you must contact your Microsoft Dynamics AX reseller or technical partner for assistance before you install Process Industries. As previously stated, Microsoft DIS layer hot fixes are not supported with this version. For complete installation pre-requisites and directions, see Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 Installation Instructions.
The international label files for Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 will be released at a later date. Customers and Partners will be able to download these from the Fullscope portal when they are released. There are some labels that differ from the Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009 version and the Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 version.
Known Issues
This list covers the known open issues with Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009. Please read this information before you implement the module. These issues will be addressed through hot fixes or a later release depending on severity and scope. In general, these issues are specific to Process Industries. For a list of open issues with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009, please refer to Microsofts release documentation.
Process Manufacturing When no formula version is selected on the Create batch order form, youll receive a message stating that you must select an active formula. The formula version must be approved, not active. When adding a co-product to the Report as finished update form, you may need to save the line before you can add a warehouse. When splitting a batch order, the formula multiple set up in the formula header is not being considered. You must first set the site of a formula version before selecting the warehouse for a co-product during formula setup. There is a known refresh issue with a new item in the Formula designer form. Exiting and coming back into the form solves the issue. Some features in the Formula setup form from the Item master have not been included with the Formula designer in this release. The formula designer is best used on editing existing formulas as opposed to creating new ones at this time. Formula size does not get scaled when a scalable raw material quantity is changed.
Process Distribution Because the catch weight flag is now display only in the Item master, you can no longer filter by catch weight items. When deleting a pricing template, you will receive an error regarding open transactions. The transactions it refers to are the lines in the Quantity and margin template form. When an inventory batch number is created using the Same Batch Reservation Error form, the sales order batch number field does not get updated when this is form is launched from the Inventory reservation form. It does add the number when launched from the Sales order itself.
STOP: All existing customers with Process Industries 1.0 or 1.1 who wish to upgrade to Process Industries for Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 MUST receive NEW license keys from Microsoft. Attempting to upgrade without the proper updated license will render the modules inoperable and could cause data loss.
Release Notes for Process Industries for AX 2009 3 Process Industries for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 For Dynamics AX 2009 RTM Build 2008 Fullscope Minimum and Maximum values on rebate agreements can be set to a negative value. However, negative rebates are not supported. The Overview tab of the main Item on hand form will not calculate Total Available excluding physical expired and physical non-nettable. When Inventory Batch Numbers are created by the same lot batch reservation form, the date structure from the batch number group is not properly included in the generated batch number Catch weight information is not currently displayed in the pegging information in a planned order When using the same batch reservation feature, if you change the quantity on a sales order line that already has a reservation made, the reservation will be removed, however, a new reservation will not be made on the changed quantity. You need to go into the reservation form and perform the reservation on the new quantity.
All Process Industries labels are contained in two label files that will be installed when installing the product. These files must be present even if only the Process Distribution OR Process Manufacturing license is purchased. The code for both products within the Process Industries suite is still present even if one license is not purchased. Because of this, some BOM specific labels will always refer to formulas even if the Process Manufacturing license is not enabled. Known issues in standard AX 2009 that will impact Process Industries. The following issues have been reported to Microsoft and worked around when necessary. When registration requirements are enabled in the Inventory model group, Good quantity is not entered on a Report as finished update line although the End job check box is enabled by default. This makes it possible to post zero quantity. Multi-level BOM calculations will calculate consumption incorrectly when the level 1 BOM raw material item has constant scrap. This will have the same effect on multi-level formula calculations. Variance reports lack estimated and realized consumption quantities. BOM designer has a blank items section when launched from the Items Place list page. This will also be true of the Formula designer. May encounter incorrect batch number requirement error when partially shipping or receiving transfer orders. The Deliver Now field on the Sales Order Setup tab does not update the same field on the Quantity tab. This will impact Catch Weight updates. It is recommended that all quantity updates be performed on the Quantity tab, which correctly updates the Setup tab. When grouping planned orders for the same BOM item, the last BOM version and last Route version will be used for all selected orders regardless of the from quantity validation that may select different versions based on the quantity. This will be the same issue when selecting planned orders for formula items.
Catch Weight Usage
Assumptions and Functional Notes
Catch Weight transaction handling must track inventory movements in both the catch weight and inventory units of measure. When transactions are moving through an order process, they must be matched with transactions of the same dimension combination. During certain inventory movements, it is possible that the Inventory Quantities on a transaction do not conform to CW setup requirements. This will particularly affect on order transactions that are changed to another state once the dimensions and actual weights become known for the items. Most of these transactions will be resolved when the order process is complete, or a particular process is completed (picking for example). Under certain specific scenarios, it is possible that certain invalid transactions are left over. Should that occur, you may use a special movement journal to clean out those specific transactions. This journal is specified in the Inventory management parameters form. Users need to be aware of this transaction flow. As such, the following assumptions are made for the usage of the catch weight functionality:
For batch and serialized controlled items, reservation with picking list registration of one-step picking will be the primary avenues for selecting multiple inventory batches or serial numbers to fulfill a single order.
Release Notes for Process Industries for AX 2009 4 Process Industries for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 For Dynamics AX 2009 RTM Build 2008 Fullscope In order to maintain the inventory integrity, reservation must be performed at the minimum catch weight conversion. You will need to use registration when receiving multiple inventory batch, serial numbers, or other finite storage dimensions. The Split button in the Pick and Registration forms is not supported with catch weight items due to the aforementioned difficulty of matching transactions as they flow through the order process. The Split button increases the transactions that need to be matched. The Pick Now and Register Now panes of these forms can perform the same function by simply adding multiple lines using the New button. When using the Items list page under Inventory Management > Places, the assumption is that you will create a new item and input its initial catch weight setup from the Item details form in a single workflow. All costing is done in the inventory unit. Catch weight items cannot lose or gain weight during a transfer order process. If they do, this must be reconciled using the catch weight movement journal mentioned above, after the transfer has been completed. When partially shipping or receiving catch weight items, it may be possible for your deliver remainder inventory quantity to be greater than the maximum converted catch weight remainder. To resolve this and proceed with the order process, use the Deliver remainder function to convert the remainder to the nominal conversion. This will also enable using the All quantity option in your posting routines.
