Rig Move Criticality
Moving oil rigs is complex logistical activity. It requires strict yet flexible planning between various stakeholders
to move the Rigs efficiently and safely to reduce non-value time and increase oil productivity
There are on an average 500 Rig moves per year
More than 1 Million kmdriven per year related to rig moves.
The exorbitant cost of Rigs even in non productive conditions signifies that the need of Rig move time
optimization is inevitable.

Facts
85% cost paid to Drilling contractor although rig is standing and not drilling
Approx 750 USD per hour for rig in standby mode
Opportunity cost of oil drilled during the same time as the rig is non-productive
Logistics waiting time saved (String days) will be direct cost saving and contribution to Drilling.
10 string month saved will equate 1 extra Rig for drilling annually.

IT Solution Design Challenges
The challenge for us was to encapsulate all business ideas,
process changes and create a workable IT model for each
business concept
Set the new IT model as the process benchmark for
reference - best practice approach imbibed in the system
for users to follow
Biggest challenge was to not only plan the rig moves at
strategic/tactical/execution level but also to accommodate
the last minute amends to the system-defined plan
