7705 SAR-M GPON MODULE
The Alcatel-Lucent 7705 Service Aggregation Router (SAR)
integrated GPON module for the SAR-M provides network
operators with the capability to leverage GPON for mobile
backhaul or business services, thereby providing an integrated
solution for GPON access.
The need for operators to maximize the usage of all available
network assets is a continuing trend.
As mobile operators deploy mobile networks, subscribers are
increasingly accessing bandwidth-hungry services. Business
services require delivery by means of the most cost-effective
alternative possible.
In response, converged packet-
based business service and mobile
backhaul solutions have been
developed for network operators
to meet the cost challenges of
supporting backhaul needs while
effectively preparing for future
network demands. These solutions
can leverage a Gigabit Passive
Optical Network (GPON) triple
play network, which is uniquely
positioned for rapid and cost-
effective relief of the backhaul
bandwidth problem. With GPON,
expensive leased lines, whose costs
scale linearly with bandwidth, can
be capped and ultimately retired.
The 7705 SAR-M supports an
integrated GPON ONT within a
hot-swappable module so as to
leverage a GPON deployment.
The GPON Module supports in-
service insertion and removal,
and is temperature hardened.
Physical Layer synchronization
is supported via the synchronous
downstream GPON Physical layer,
which can then be used as a timing
reference for T1/E1 ports, SyncE,
sync out, 1588 Master Clock or in
conjunction with Differential Clock
Recovery (DCR).
