Procedure for MBBS Admission

A. Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital, Ram Nagar (Rajpura), Distt. Patiala is affiliated with
Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Recognized by the Medical Council of India
and International Accredited by the International Accreditation Organization (IAO).

B. The normal duration of MBBS course (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) is five and
half academic years (including one year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship). The course is
governed by the rules and regulations of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences/Medical
Council of India.

D. Eligibility:-

(i)The eligibility of the candidates under Govt. Quota/Management Quota/ NRI Quota /NRI Left
Over Seat is as per the criteria laid down in the Punjab Govt. Notification No. 5/9/2009-3HB-
III/1472 dated 7.03.2014 and its amendment issued from time to time.

(ii)The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
English or equivalent examination as laid down in the Punjab Govt. notification, as a candidate
from a recognized institution situated in the State of Punjab except for the exemptions wherever
applicable.

(iii) Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31
st
Dec., of year of
admission.

(iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/BC) taken together
in PCB and also in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in 10+2 examination and have
secured at least 50% marks in in All India common merit list in AIPMET.







E. Selection/Admission Procedure:

E.1 Government Quota (Gen/SC/BC/HC seats)

All candidates should apply for admission to the B.F.U.H.S. who fulfill the eligibility criteria and
other conditions and also have qualified the AIPMET of admission year. The Selection of
candidates will be made by the Central Admission Committee according to the schedule of
admission to MBBS course as notified by the B.F.U.H.S for admission every year. The selected
candidates by B.F.U.H.S. should report to the institution on the dates to be notified by the
B.F.U.H.S. at the time of counseling along with following documents (original and photocopy):-

1) Receipt of Provisional Tuition Fee for the first year.
2) Bank draft of other charges in favour of Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital
payable at the time of admission.
3) Allotment letter from BFUHS.
4) AIPMET - admit card of admission year.
5) AIPMET - result card/print out of admission year.
6) Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination ( 10+2 or equivalent)
7) Certificate showing detailed marks of 10+2 and 10+1 (both) or equivalent examinations.
8) Matriculation certificate showing date of birth.
9) Good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
10) Certificate showing that the candidate had studied 10+1 & 10+2 as regular student in the
recognized institution situated in Punjab.
11) Exemption Certificate whichever applicable as per the clause 18(i) to (xi) of the Punjab
Govt. Notification dated 07.03.2014 if applicable.
12) Migration Certificate, if passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from Board/University
other than Punjab School Education Board.
13) Punjab Residence Certificate.
14) Gap in studies affidavit, if applicable.
15) Certificate of reserved category from the competent authority, if any reservation is claimed.
16) Surety Bond/Bank Guarantee of balance fee. (To be submitted at the time of
admission/selection).
17) Ten unattested copies of the same Passport size photograph.
18) Five unattested copies of the same Stamp size photograph.
19) Behavior/character Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended
20) Undertaking regarding ragging (In English and Punjabi is compulsory).



E.2 Management Quota Seats (Gen/SC/BC/HC/J&K Seats):

All candidates should apply for admission to the B.F.U.H.S. who fulfill the eligibility criteria and
other conditions and also have qualified the AIPMET. The Selection of candidates will be made
by the Central Admission Committee according to the schedule of admission to MBBS course as
notified by the B.F.U.H.S for admission every year. The selected candidates by B.F.U.H.S.
should report to the institution on the dates to be notified by the B.F.U.H.S. at the time of
counseling along with following documents (original and photocopy):-

E-3 Management Quota (NRI seats/NRI left over Management Quota):

Each candidate is required to apply on the prescribed form to the university directly after
obtaining the Eligibility Certificate from BFUHS in case of NRI Categories I & II by the last day
and send the photo copy of the same to the Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital,
First Floor, Building of Gian Sagar Medical College, Ram Nagar (Rajpura), Distt. Patiala,
Pin code 140601 (Punjab), India along with attested photocopy of following documents:-

1. AIPMET admit card of admission year.
2. AIPMET result card/print out of admission year.
3. Receipt of Provisional Tuition Fee for 1

Installment or Full amount deposited at B.F.U.H.S.,
Faridkot.
4. Certificate of having passed the qualifying examination ( High School Diploma for Category I &
II equivalent to 10+2 examination )
5. Certificate showing detailed marks/explanation sheet of grades/credit/Detailed marks of 10+2 and
10+1 (both) or equivalent examinations.
6. Certificate of accreditation of High School for Category I & II.
7. Matriculation certificate showing date of birth./Certificate of date birth.
8. Good conduct certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
9. Certificate showing that the candidate had passed the qualifying examination equivalent to 10+1 &
10+2 as regular student in the recognized institution/university.
10. Photocopy of passport of parent/candidates.
11. Photocopy of passport or other proof showing Foreign Indian National (NRI) status.
12. Bank Guarantee of balance fee.(To be submitted at the time of admission or within one week time
from the admission)
13. Ten unattested copies of the same PP size photograph( at the time of admission)
14. Five unattested copies of the same Stamp size photograph (at the time of admission).
15. NRI Candidates must have Provisional student visa from Indian Mission abroad before the
admission/counseling and once he/she gets confirmed admission Student Visa can be obtained
FRO(Foreigners Registration Officers)/ FRRO(Foreigner Regional Registration Offices).
16. Bank draft in favour Principal, Gian Sagar Medical College & Hospital payable at Chandigarh of other
Fees payable to the college ( to be submitted at the time of admission at college on date notified by the
university.)
17. NRI Candidates shall also be required to obtain a Clearance Certificate from the Ministry of Health and
Family Welfare, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi in due course and submit it to the Principal of the college to
which they are admitted.
18. Allotment letter from BFUHS (to be submitted at the time of admission at college on date notified by the
university).
19. After admission every NRI Student has to be registered as NRI student with Police Department of Punjab
(SSP office of the District) and copy of the same should be deposited in our institution within 10 days.
20. Behavior/character Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended.
21. Undertaking regarding ragging (In English and Punjabi).




How to obtain eligibility Certificate from B.F.U.H.S. (For NRI candidates only)

Each NRI candidate should apply to the Registrar, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences,
Faridkot on the prescribed performa for eligibility certificate alongwith all required documents and
fees for obtaining eligibility certificate. All the original certificate/documents are required to be
produced to the university for this purpose and the same will be returned by the university after the
issue of eligibility certificate. Application form can be down loaded from the university website:-
www.bfuhs.ac.in

Any seat remaining vacant under the NRI category during/after the last centralized counseling
(as decided by the bfuhs) of NRI quota will be converted to the Management quota which will be
filled as per the eligibility criteria applicable for management as per Punjab Govt. Orders
issued from time to time.

Special Instructions:
After the last centralized counseling (as decided by the bfuhs), the seats left vacant (both in Govt.
as well as management quota) shall be filled by institution itself on merit of AIPMET as per the
creteria contained in Punjab Govt. notification /bfuhs rules out of the eligible candidates who have
qualified in AIPMET after due publication of notice in leading newspapers. The Cut off date of
admission is 30

Sept., 2014.
Medical examination:
Each selected candidate is required to report for medical examination on dates notified for this
purpose at the time of counseling and also bring with them the original Certificates/ documents as
mentioned above and thereafter deposit the all charges on the same day.

Security advances will be refunded without interest and after adjustments, if any, on completion
of the course after submission of NO DUES Certificate.

G 4 Refund of Tuition Fee:
Fees, once paid, shall NOT be refunded except when a candidate is admitted/shifted from
one college to another DURING THE Centralized counseling/operation of waiting list through
B.F.U.H.S.

G 5 Fee from failed students:
A student failing in any subject(s) in a University Examination shall be required to pay, for each
subject and each attempt, tuition fee at the rate of Rs.3000/- for students admitted against Non-
NRI/ NRI Quota seats.


General Information
1. The Hostel is compulsory for every student.
2. All admissions are provisional and are subject to approval by Baba Farid University of Health
Sciences, Faridkot.
3. The courses of study and examinations will be governed by the regulations of BFUHS and
MCI.
4. The classes for the failed/detained students will start immediately after the declaration of the
results. Attendance in these classes is compulsory.
5. Inter-medical college migration is not permitted except under extraordinary circumstances as
per rules of MCI.
6. The Rules and Regulations, including fees may be revised as and when required by
Govt./Management and the revised rules and regulations/fee will be applicable irrespective of
the conditions mentioned in this prospectus.
7. Use of Vehicle by the student in College Campus is Strictly Prohibited and entry of any
type of Vehicle in Campus is not allowed.
8. Very Important regarding Ragging:-
Ragging is strictly banned in side/outside the Campus and is criminal offence.
Ragging is strictly banned by the Govt. of India/Supreme Court of India/Our Gian
Sagar Educational Institutions/other authorities. Now a days Ragging is synonym of
Teasing, abusing, playing practical jokes, threatening, harassment, cruelty, fear,
Physical and mental torture.
If any incidence of ragging comes to the notice of the authorities, the concerned students
shall be given liberty to explain and if his/her explanation is not found satisfactory, the
authorities would expel him/her from the institution.
In case the victim of ragging, his/her parent/guardian is not satisfied with the action taken
by the College authorities or College authority is of the opinion that incident ought to be so
reported, a First Information Report (FIR) with local Police authority shall be filed.
9. Misbehavior/ criminal activity of student will attract expulsion from the institution.
10. Mobile phone not allowed in classroom, if found will be confiscated and will be returned only
to parents for first time, second time it will not be returned at all.
11. The tuition fee/other charges for year will have to be deposited at the time of admission before
start of classes.
