Session 1: Microsoft Excel Formatting the data

1. You are preparing the worksheet for employees distribution. You want to
emphasize the employee names with a different font and style. All columns
should be highlighted with the same color. Table should be properly formatted
and readable. Your manger has asked you for the list of only those employees in
the accounts department who have been employed for 10 years or more (use
table.xlsx)

2. Use file sewere.xls for solving this example. You have been given a fictional
water and sewer budget with two years of revenue data. Analyze these numbers
by following the outline below.

List the total amount of the budget for each year
List how much the budget has increased or decreased between the two
years
Which water/sewer division shows the greatest change?
Calculate the percentage of difference in each division.
Calculate the percent of total for each line item in each budget year.
Which division provides the most revenue in each year?
Use the toolbar to add dollar sign or Euro sign
Sort the data from highest to lowest according to the percentage of
difference in each division.

3. Stock exchange Scrips two days rates are given in spreadsheet. Format highest
price scrip in RED color and lowest price scrip in green color for both days. Clear
earlier formatting. Format the scrip line with RED color if there is increase in
scrip price. Format the scrip line with GREEN color if there is decrease scrip
price. (Use Scrip.xlsx)

4. Sales related data is given in salesdata.xlsx. Search for duplicate salesperson
entry. Change the font color of item sold to green if the items sold are more than
5 items. Highlight the rows with different color where income is more than
expenses. (use salesdata.xlsx)[Perform all using conditional formatting]

5. Create the spreadsheet having the school exam marks of 8 students. A total of 8
subjects were taken. For this review, work out the Averages for all 8 subjects
studied, .The Overall Averages range from 44 to 85. We'll colour each grade,
depending on a scale. A different colour will apply to the following grades:
50 and below
51 to 60
61 to 70
71 to 80
81 and above

6. Two set of numbers are given the spreadsheet. Format all the numbers in RED
color those are appearing more than once in SET 1 and SET 2. Change at least
two numbers in any SET to see the change in formatting pattern. (Use Set of
numbers.xlsx) [Hint: countif function and conditional formatting]
