Course Intake
The CET provides enrolments throughout the year subject to
apprentice numbers. Please contact the College administration team for
specific course commencement dates.

Course Duration and Attendance
The program will be delivered for a total of 954 hours, typically for 40
weeks per year over a period of three (3) years.

Course Delivery
Upon registration, employers can select from weekly - day release, or
two week block release training programs. To assist with administration
the delivery option selected must be maintained for the full calendar
year.
All Core Units of Competency must be achieved; and
A combination of Elective Units of Competency to achieve a total
weighting of 140 points:

Entry Requirements
An apprenticeship agreement must be signed through an Australian
Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) and registered with the WA
ApprentiCentre. On the job training must be provided by an employer
holding a current WA Unrestricted Electricians Licence or equivalent
recognised in an Australian State or Territory.

Course Materials
Applicants are required to obtain the following resources prior to the
course commencement (Available at all CET Campus):
AS/NZS 3000 Current Edition;
AS/NZS 3008.1.1 Current Edition;
Electrical Trade Principles, 3rd Edition, J. Hampson &
S. Hanssen; and
Electrotechnology Practice, 3rd Edition, J. Hampson &
S. Hanssen.

Certification
Graduates will be issued with Certificate III in Electrotechnology
Electrician and a Statement of Attainment for each Unit of Competency
completed.

Skills Recognition
Our Skills recognition process benefits applicants who have undergone
prior learning and recognises competencies obtained outside of a formal
educational or training environment gained through life or work
experience. To assist CET in placing you in an appropriate class we
must be informed if you have prior qualifications or experiences that
may lead to a reduction in your training at the College.
Competencies currently held by applicants will be formally assessed
against the Unit of Competency and will be recognised regardless of
how, when and where they were achieved.
If you believe you are entitled to Skills Recognition we encourage you to
complete an application for Skills Recognition Form available from our
administration team. Each application will be assessed on an individual
basis.
A student who has previously enrolled in a unit resulting in RPL not
being granted and seeking to enrol in the same unit as a standard
Overview
This nationally recognized qualification provides competencies to select, install,
set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in
buildings and premises and includes the ERAC requirements for an Electricians
Licence. This program directly supports the WA Electrical Mechanic
Apprenticeship and provides graduates with the skills and knowledge to satisfy
the UEE308011 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.

Fees / Austudy
The College of Electrical Training attracts the same financial sup-
port from the State Government as any other Registered Training
Organisation ensuring there is no cost disadvantage to employers
or apprentices.
Fee reductions are available for apprentices who are able to pro-
vide an approved concession at enrolment.
Learners enrolled in full-time courses are eligible to apply for
means-tested Department of Training and Workforce Develop-
ment, Employment and Workplace Relations Allowances.
Applications for allowances can be made through Centrelink.


Fee Waiver
Fees may be waived for individual apprentices who are able to
demonstrate that payment of fees would produce financial
hardship.
The College Fee Waiver Policy covering Financial Hardship is in
accordance with the WA Department of Training and Workforce
Development guidelines.
