Procedure:
1. Ensure the smooth operation of the electrocardiograph and that you have all
the necessary material.

Check the patient's identity.
Create an atmosphere of intimacy for the procedure.
Inform the patient of the procedure to be performed.
Inform you of the importance of being relaxed, not moving, not
talking and not touching any metal area during the procedure.

4. Technique
Identify the patient.

Separate arms slightly and legs of the patient.
Putting on the four peripheral electrodes on the wrists and ankles.
Connect each of the wires to the corresponding peripheral electrode
( the end of each wire is labeled with the initials and identification
color code ) :
Red wire, RA (right arm) to the electrode of the right wrist.
Yellow wire, LA (left arm) to the electrode of the left wrist.
Black Cable, RL (right leg) to the electrode right ankle.
Green wire, LL (left leg) left ankle to the electrode.
Identify and manage each of the precordial leads (the end of each
wire is labeled with the symbol and color code identification).
Connect each wire to an electrode chest , but may also be placed
first electrodes on the patient's chest and then connect the cables:
V1 (red): Fourth intercostal space right next to the breastbone.
V2 (yellow): fourth left intercostal space along the sternum.
V4 (brown): 5th left intercostal space in the midclavicular line
V3 (green): between V2 and V4.
V5 (black): 5th left intercostal space in the anterior axillary line.
V6 (purple): 5th left intercostal space in the mid-axillary line.
Set the speed selector electrocardiograph paper 25 mm / sec.
Calibrate the sensitivity of the record (a millivolt must correspond to a
cm in height, 10 mm / mV) or placed in automatic mode.
Ask the patient to remain still, without speaking and breathing
normally.
Conduct the search to obtain the twelve leads. If the registration is
not automatically register a minimum of six QRS complexes for each
lead.

conductive gel electrodes.
