A MISSIONARY VISION AND APPEAL OF THE CITYLIGHT FELLOWSHIP

Citylight Fellowship is a church initiated just a year ago by a few Bible believing, mission minded believers.
Our burden is reach out to the vast teeming populations of our cities. We have a house church where about 20
members regularly attend Sunday Worship. My endeavor as their pastor is to disciple them to be effective in
their daily Christian lives. Towards this end we have regular Bible studies and we plan other programs which
will bring a greater binding among the members and give a deeper understanding of the Word of God.

Though we are small in number, we want to follow the Commandment of the Lord of the Great Commission.
The Lord commanded his disciples to go to all the ends of the earth and make disciples of all ethnic groups and
tribes. We want to follow this Commission of the Lord to its core to the extent possible for us. This is the reason
we have made a small beginning in the city of Ahmedabad of church planting.

Ahmedabad is a city of more than 6 million people of which more than 4 million are migrants. Where many of
the people have migrated from the surrounding villages and other parts of Gujarat, a good number have come
from outside the State of Gujarat. There are substantial numbers from Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh,
Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Whereas, a miniscule of this is from the upper Middle working class, most of
them are laborers and daily wagers. I believe, all these ethnic groups need to be reached by the church.

Apart from this, many of the Gujarati Christians from the villages are also migrating to this city. They also work
in small factories and as daily wagers. These people also do not become part of the church in the city for various
reasons. They live in Non Christian surrounding and without fellowship and worship, they are not able to live
lives according to their Christian calling. This is another group that needs to be nurtured.

Looking at the need to nurture this group and to plant churches in different areas of the city of Ahmedabad, we
have started a small initiative. We have started with supporting a missionary based in the Eastern part of the city.
He has already started his ministry in some of his surroundings and the results are encouraging. He is able to
teach about 50 children in an area called Ramol which is in the hinterland of the city. All these children belong
to non-Christian background. You may view the same on website. He has also initiated work in another eastern
suburb called Yashodanagar. He has a Sunday Worship service and a Thursday Bible study wherein about 10 to
15 people attend. He is in the process of studying the needs of some these areas so that we can initiate some
social work also in these areas.

This is a small beginning, but let you assure you that it will bear fruit for the Lord in the days to come. We are
also looking out for missionaries to place in other parts of the city.

Support for 2 missionaries @ Rs. 15,000/- PM per missionary: 3,60,000/-
Vehicles for 2 missionaries @ Rs. 40,000/-: 80,000/-
Expenses for various Spiritual Programs: 2,00,000/-
Expenses towards proposed social programs: 5,00,000/-
Total Expenses 11,40,000/-
