Victor Salcido Ulysses Ruiz Algebra II, Period 6 December 2, 2011
PART I: DATA QUESTIONS 1.) Write down the equation to the line. y = 250x 4 -4351.9x 3 +20139x 2 +20344x+92270
2.) What curve did you choose as best fit (quadratic, cubic, quartic, quintic)? The function that best fit our data was Quartic
3.) How many new HIV cases have you predicted in the next 5 years (with 5 years of data)? Does this number make sense? Why or why not? We predict that there will be 457710 new HIV cases in 2000.
4.) How many new HIV cases have you predicted in the next 5 years (with 20 years of data)? Does this number make sense? Why or why not? We predict that there will be 278073 less HIV cases in 2013. This number could make sense because the number of new cases could decrease if treatment and education increases.

1. What are the major factors for the spread of HIV in your selected country? The major factors for the spread of HIV in India needle sharing (drugs and Tattoos) and sexual intercourse
2. What has been done to decrease the number of new cases? The government has opened a National Aids Control organization. This has offered education programs, training, and treatment
3. What are some of the barriers that contribute to the spread of HIV? A barrier to the decrease of HIV is the stigma of talking about sex and getting tested. In addition, economic problems, and the fact that women with aids have children and are passing it to the new born
4. What are your suggestions for this country that could effectively help reduce the number of new cases? We suggested that every one with aids should have free treatment no matter what.
PART III: WHITE PAPER
1. Overview- Summarize findings from articles. Use Article Questions as a Guide
2. Contributing factors- summarize factors SPECIFIC to your country that have contributed to the increase or decline. The major factors for the spread of HIV in India needle sharing (drugs and Tattoos) and sexual intercourse.
3. Data analysis- Copy and paste your table. Explain in words what trends are present. As seen in the graph below it shows how the increase in HIV for 5 years then the decline of HIV through the next 20 years.
4. Predictions- Copy and paste graph for 20 years in the future. Explain in words what the graph illustrates.
5. Recommendations- Suggest possible future actions that can be taken or continued based on their effectiveness. We suggested that every one with aids should have free treatment no matter what and they get something on them that will show that they have HIV.

Team Member A Reflection
1. Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose. The purpose of this project was to find out more about the country we chose and how aids are affecting that country
2. Identify and list the GLPO(s) that were satisfied in completing this artifact. In addition, please explain how these GLPO(s) were met by specifically referring to the examples or evidence from the artifact. (Please specifically refer to the indicators within each domain, and do not simply state that you Took Action or Communicated Ideas.) We Satisfied the communicate ideas part because we showed how Indias aids problem can rise and drop dramatically. We were also able to predict up 20 years in the future from 1990.
3. What skills and concepts were learned throughout the process of completing this artifact? We were able to calculate how the aids problem will rise or fall 20 years In the future
4. Looking back on the process of completing this artifact, what might you do differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product? How has process of completing this artifact positively affected your future? If I were able to edit or redo this project I would probably predict a little more in to the future. I would also take more time in researching
Team Member B Reflection
1. Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose. The project that we did had to do with us learning of the rate of HIV cases. We used math to predict if the cases were going to increase or decrease in 20 years. We used parables. In India there were cases of HIV sky rocketing. There were in the 100 thousand areas. By 2000 that changed and the cases of HIV went down.
2. Identify and list the GLPO(s) that were satisfied in completing this artifact. In addition, please explain how these GLPO(s) were met by specifically referring to the examples or evidence from the artifact. (Please specifically refer to the indicators within each domain, and do not simply state that you Took Action or Communicated Ideas.) The GLPOS where that we discussed about a world problem. We talked about how HIV was rising in the many different countries. We predicted in the future by using parables to see how HIV will rise in 20 years or decrease. We used Excel on how to predict the future my using math.
3. What skills and concepts were learned throughout the process of completing this artifact? The skills I learned to use Excel to predict the future. In India the northern side people will inject drugs and that was the way HIV will spread. That was the most common way HIV was spread there. But in the southern side the most common way that HIV was spread was by sex.
4. Looking back on the process of completing this artifact, what might you do differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product? How has process of completing this artifact positively affected your future? HIV has been a major awareness in the entire WORLD. There is lots of NGOs in India. Search nonprofit organizations and there will be lots. This shows that people will do something to stop HIV
