Overview of testing, cleaning and troubleshooting


To perform a GLUCOSE test:
6. Touch drop to
front edge
(not top) of
yellow window.
7. flashes when enough
blood is applied.
8. Result appears
on display
in 5 seconds.
9. Remove
and discard
test strip.
To perform a CONTROL test:
7. flashes when enough
solution is applied.
8. Wipe bottle tip
with tissue;
re-cap bottle
tightly.
9. Result appears on
display. Press
once to mark it
as Level 1 or
twice to mark it
as Level 2.
10. Press to set the level.
a. Result/OK
alternate on
display if
result is
in range.
b. Result/Err
alternate on display
if result is out of range.**
11. Remove
and discard
test strip.
To clean meter:
Troubleshoot common error messages:
1. Be sure meter is off.
2. Dampen a soft cloth with:
70% isopropyl alcohol or
Mild dishwashing liquid and water or
10% fresh bleach solution
3. Squeeze excess liquid from cloth.
4. Gently wipe meter surface.
5. DO NOT get moisture in code chip
or test strip slots.
DO NOT spray cleaning solution on
meter.
DO NOT pour liquid into meter.
DO NOT immerse meter in any liquid.
Display Likely cause: What to do:
Meter not coded or
code chip not inserted.
Turn off meter and recode it.
Test strips will expire at end
of current month.
Before month end, insert code chip from new box of strips.
Test strip is damaged. Remove strip and reinsert, or replace if damaged.

Incorrect code chip. Turn meter off and insert new code chip.

Test error. Discard strip and repeat test.


Insufficient blood
(or control solution)
after test starts.
Discard strip and repeat test.
Display Likely cause: What to do:
Test strip has expired. Ensure code chip # matches code # on strip container.
Ensure time/date setting is correct.
Blood (or control solution)
was applied too early.
Discard strip and repeat test.
Electronic error.
Used strip was removed and
reinserted.
Turn meter off and on, or remove battery for a few seconds
and reinsert it.
Perform a glucose or control test.

Temperature is above/below
proper range (6C 44C).
Move to area in proper range.
Wait 5 minutes; repeat test.
Do not heat/cool meter.
Battery is almost out
of power.
Change battery.
Time/date settings may be
incorrect.
Check time/date settings; adjust if necessary.
