Critical essays on novels written by the Indian diasporic writers are being invited from faculty
members and researchers for inclusion, after reviewing, in:

About the critical-anthology: Literature written internationally in English during the 21st century is
identifably dominated by publications of the expatriate Indian writers like Bharati Mukherjee,
Salman Rushdie, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Kiran Desai. Several international,
prestigious literary-awards have been conferred upon them especially in the last decade, which
admits their growing importance and readability. Though these writers are settled in especially
Western nations spread far apart from one another, they are symbolically unifed by their common
themes of writing: sense of rootlessness, alienation, disillusionment, identity-crisis, and nostalgia,
which actually signifes the decadent life and culture in Euro-American countries. Recently,
publications by diferent writers of the Indian diaspora especially Jhumpa Lahiri and Kiran Desai
have been included in both the post-graduation and under-graduation level syllabi of Indian
universities and colleges, and they have also attracted quality research. The present anthology of
critical writings on novels published by Indian diasporic writers intends to fll in the lacunae that have
come to exist in the feld of critical appreciation of diasporic publications. Other than researchers, the
essays to be included in the collection are also to address the requirements of post-graduation and
under-graduation-level students.
Essays may be written on but not exclusively confned to the following areas:
(a) The representation of loss of identity in Indian diasporic novels;
(b) The theme of nostalgia in Indian diasporic novels;
(c) Disillusionment and despair for the Indian expatriates;
(d) Alienation of Indian expatriates in Western nations;
(e) The presentations of home and abroad in Indian diasporic novels;
(f) Cultural hybridity and mimicry in Indian diasporic novels;
(g) Distortion and appropriation of language(s) in Indian diasporic novels;
(h) Analysis of diferent prominent characters of Indian diasporic writings;
(i) Personal experiences of Indian expatriate writers and diasporic novels;
(j) The West/East confict in Indian diasporic novels;
(k) The postcoloniality of Indian diasporic novels;
And so on
Original research papers, written within 3000-6500 words, and using the latest M.L.A.-style-citations,
are to be sent by e-mail to both the editors, along with two printed copies of the essays, in which
credentials and address(es) of the critic(s) are to be clearly mentioned. Any sort of plagiarism or
improper-acknowledgement is to be strictly avoided. The critical-anthology is to be released by a
renowned Kolkata-based publisher (tentatively in January 2015) in hard-bound, international format
(with I.S.B.N.). All published contributors would each receive a complimentary copy of the anthology;
in the event of jointly-written papers, only the frst contributor would receive the complimentary copy.
No inquiry regarding acceptance of essays or date(s) of publication would be entertained, and only
the contributors shortlisted by reviewers/referees are to be informed by e-mail.
