pencils, crayons, planet books, document camera, projector, chart

5.0 Technology for Information Use and Management: Use technology to locate, evaluate,
gather, and organize information.
Procedures/Activities: Day 1: Students will be placed in pairs for later research. Students will
listen to the informational text Planets in their classroom to help build background knowledge
of the 8 planets in our solar system. Students will listen and learn a song about the eight planets
from youtube to help them select a planet to research. After the song, we will make a class chart
of the planets and the order that they are from the sun. Each student will then pick a planet to
research with their partner. They will begin filling in the first several sections of the graphic
organizers as shown by Mrs. Bennett on the document camera. Day 2: Students will sit in groups
based on what planets they are researching. Each of the 4 teachers (2 classroom& 2 media) will
sit with a group and read the book with them about their specific planet. The students will then

fill in the remaining information on the graphic organizer. They will also use Pebble Go database
to find any missing information that was not covered in the text. Day 3: They students will learn
to access Powerpoint, add their name and the planet to the title slide and change their design.
They will also add a second slide for their information and save their work to the designated
folder. Day 4: Students will add information from their graphic organizers to their information
slide. They will also add a picture from clip art. At the end of class everyone will get to present
their Powerpoint.
