with the new Firefox version?. It may be enou&h to Dust u%date all the extensions in IFirefox >or

<uic0est solution to many Firefox %roblems is to chec0 whether disablin& all extensions hel%s.

extensions is to onl9 ignore those groups that did not cause an9 pro$lems (hen

2ou will %robably want to uninstall any extensions found to be Ibu&&yIN however$ if the extension
is im%ortant to you$ you may want to see if reinstallin& it >after first uninstallin& it? solves the
%roblem. ;ther alternatives are to 0ee% it disabled and to re&ularly chec0 for u%dates. 2ou mi&ht
also want to send the author a friendly note$ and first chec0 if s5he has a newer version on her5his
site than where you &ot it from. )ee% in mind that many extension authors are not %rofessional
%ro&rammers$ and all do somethin& else for a livin& than writin& Firefox extensions. /hey may not
even 0now that their extension is bu&&y$ or they may need a reminder to find time to fix their
extension.
4nother approach at identifying the extension based on recently updated extensions. >Firefox

If you've been on the same version of Firefox for awhile and the %roblem Dust started ha%%enin&$
then try IFirefox >or /ools? ` 6dd'ons ` :xtensionsI then clic0 on the &ear wheel choose I7iew
1ecent =%datesI. /o see list in normal fashion a&ain choose I6%%earancesI then return to
I:xtensionsI.
Profile issues
If you wish to dia&nose all %rofile'related issues >which include extension and theme issues?$ you
can do so by creatin& a new Firefox %rofile >do not delete the ori&inal %rofile$ Dust create a new
one?. 2our added extensions and themes$ boo0mar0s and other %ersonal data and settin&s will not be
%resent when Firefox starts with the new %rofile but will still be available in the ori&inal %rofile. If
the %roblem still exists in the new %rofile$ com%lete the remainin& standard dia&nostic ste%s.
If the %roblem is resolved in the new %rofile$ you have two o%tions+
1. -ou can migrate 9our data and settings $9 selecti,el9 cop9ing 9our important profile
data to the ne( profile6 then reinstall 9our added extensions and themes or6
J. -ou can tr9 to fix the pro$lem in the original profile6 as outlined $elo(.
To fx the problem in the original profle
2ou may be able to fix the ori&inal %rofile by removin& certain files in the ori&inal Firefox %rofile
folder$ as su&&ested below. >First ma0e sure you have a current %rofile bac0u% so that no data is
lost.? 6fter each ste%$ use the Profile 8ana&er or a shortcut to the ori&inal %rofile to reo%en Firefox
usin& the ori&inal %rofile$ to see if the %roblem is resolved. If it isn't$ ma0e sure you exit Firefox
com%letely before continuin&.
