DATIA

Geography :-

Datia is a city of India which is lies on the geographical coordinates of
25 degree 40 0 North, 78 degree 28 0 East. The area of datia is
2,691 km. square.

Introduction :-
Datia is located in M.P. and on the border of U.P. Datia is a city which
is situated in between Gwalior & Jhansi. The distance of Datia from
Gwalior is approx. 70 km and the distance from Jhansi is approx. 35
km. Datia railway station is situated on the line of Delhi- Chennai.
Datia is a district headquaters of datia district in the North Central
Madhya Pradesh state of Central India. The district has 445 villages
and 3 towns Datia, Seondha & bhander. It is an ancient town, which
is also mentioned in MAHABHARATA as DAITYAVARAK. The old town
is surrounded by a stone wall, enclosing beautiful palaces & garden
The town is a market centre for food grains ( wheat, rice, etc.) and
also for cotton products. It is also have several important and
beautiful landmarks and is famed for their seven story palace built by
RAJA BEER SINGH DEO in 1614. This town is also a thriving pilgrimage
spot for devotees. In datia there are many spot which attract
everyone like, Peetambara peeth, Gopeshwar Temple, Buglamukhi
Temple, Vankhandeshwar Temple, Dhumavati Devi Temple.
Approximately, 15 km there is a place Sonagir which is famous for
Jain Temples. The population in Datia in 2011 india census is
100466. 53% are males & 47% are females. The average literacy rate
in datia is 68 %. In which male literacy is 75% and female literacy is
60 %.


Tourist places in Datia :-
1. Peetambra Peeth :- Peetambra Peeth is the famous Shakti-
Peeth. The temple is located near the entrance of the city. The
Temple of BAGULAMUKHI MATA and DHUMAVATI MAI
established by Shri. GOLOKWASI SWAMIJI MAHARAJ.


2. Sonagiri Temple:- It is a famous Pilgrimage of the Jains, who
come in large numbers annually to workship at these beautiful
temples. There are more than 100 temples and attract visitors
and tourists from distant places.


3. Unao- Balaji Sun Temple :- It is situated 17 km from Datia. It is
very old temple is said to date from Pre-Historic times. There is
a tank in the vincity said to contain scared water and is the
popular belief that lepers who take a bath in these waters are
cured of their terrible affliction. It is also called balaji-dham. To
reach this destination we have only one means of
transportation which is by road.


4. Bir Singh Deo Mahal :- It is a seven story palace which is built
by Raja Bir Singh Deo in 1614. The best thing in this palace is
that it is made up of only one stone.


5. Rajgarh Palace & Museum :- Rajgrah palace was buit by King
Shatrujit Bundela. Palace is made of Bundela architecture.
Museum is also located this palace and is collection of
geological and cultural importance things.


6. Gujarra :- This place is famous for ASHOKA SHILALEKH .

7. Badoni :- This place is known as chhoti badoni & is located 10
km from datia city. There are guptkalin temple of Boddh &
Jain religion and famous for Bundela architecture Fort &
Hawelies.

8. Seondha :- Seondha is 70 km from datia and connected by road
only. This place is famous for waterfall on Sindh river,
kanhaghar fort & Nandnandan Temple. There is also a famous
temple of RATANGARH TEMPLE which is 15 km far from
seondh. This temple is located in very dense forest.

9. Pancham Kavi Ki Toriya :- This natural and beautiful place is
located 4 km from datia and are famous for Bhairav Temple.




Udnu Ki Toriya :- This place is famous for Hunaman Temple
and temple is very high. Its have approx. 350 stairs. It is 8 km
from datia.
