| | Non-belief in god X belief in god | | ATHEIST --- no divine intervention --- DEISM
The difference between atheism and theism is arguing over what to call God. Forgot who that quote came from, and while I agree thats what modernly is true, it shouldnt be so. I think god should be an intervention by mother nature. Deists believe god set laws of physics etc. then hibernated, and have the same beliefs pretty much as atheists, while Christians, Muslims, etc. share belief in divine intervention with lots of new age stuff like karma and luck (personally I think of luck as a string of fortunate coincidences). While I believe astrology to be potentially atheist, due to it being (somewhat) based on physics, karma is impossible to separate from divine reward or punishment. Luck is, I guess, either god/mother nature being arbitrary, or a reward/punishment. Like Occams razor/principle of parsimony says, dont attach extra words to something to make it confusing. Pantheism is either used by new age hippies, or people like Baruch Spinoza to put atheism in a theistic context. -Greg dratsab Huffman
(6/5/2014) Karma in Frank Ziska Today, I was finishing up the new short story I was writing entitled Frank Ziska Modern Day Diogenes and in that story I talk a little about this subject. I will simply copy and paste that section from the story here, so that those reading this article wont have to scan that writing for this particular philosophical subject. The dick sucking part is a bit funny out of context, though. Well, here it is: Ohh, yee fucking retards, says Frank, I expect this from Bill, but come on Douglas, youre smarter than that. You know there is no God. Doug says, No, its not God, its Karma. Karma? What have we done wrong? asks Frank. Maybe it was you sucking all those dicks, I dont know, but I know this is a bad sign, says Douglas. Ohh, for fucks sake, Doug, if Karma exists then why did Anne Frank die so young and in such poor condition, and why are shady businessmen like Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch still alive and living the good life? Does that make sense to you? And karma requires judgment of justice. How can you have judgment without a conscious being that is doing the judging? And if this omnipotent justice exists, what can you call it other than God? No, Douglas, if you believe in Karma, then you must also believe in God. The two are inextricable from each other, rants Frank Ziska.
