Procedure

ACTIVITY I Warmer Roll the die

Aim: to create interest in the lesson
Time: 5 min.
Procedure: The teacher brings a die which has drawn a plus, a question mark and
a minus on each side. Students roll the die , one at the time, and according to the
sign on the die they must make a question, an affirmative or negative sentence.
Ex.S1: (S1 rolls the die and gets a +) Summer is my favourite season. (S1
passes the die and the next student rolls it and gets a question mark)
S2: Do you like chocolate?( and gives the die to another student who has to
answer and so on)

ACTIVITY II - Reinforcing and checking the previous knowledge (pair work)

Aim: to practice talking about conditionals
Time: 10 min.
Procedure: The teacher asks the students to get in pairs. She gives each pair a
sheet of paper. The students must match the items in column A with those in
column B in order to make correct conditional sentences. (Worksheet 1) They also
have to identify the types of the conditionals.

ACTIVITY III Practice Chain story (group work)

Aim: to practise using conditional sentences type I
Time: 15 min.
Procedure: The class is divided in 3 groups. On the floor, in front of the classroom
there are 3 balloons, each of them having 14 halves of sentences in it.(Worksheet
2) The teacher asks the students to choose a runner in each group. The runners
have to run up to their balloon, burst it, pick up the sentences and return to their
group. The group has to piece the sentences together and arrange them in the right
order. The group who finishes first are the winners. The answers are checked with
the whole class.

Tony has gone to a restaurant with some friends. What happens if he gets home
late?

ACTIVITY IV Practice - If I (group work)

Aim: to practise talking about conditionals
Time: 15 min.
Procedure: The teacher asks the students to form 3 groups. Each group is given a
picture with six sentences representing the mans thoughts.(Worksheet 3) They
have to use the thoughts to make conditionals sentences types I, II and III. The
teacher monitors the activity. The students report the activity to the class.

ACTIVITY V - Evaluation and homework assignment

Aim: - to evaluate the students work
- to assign students their homework
Time: 5 min
Procedure: The teacher grades some students.
As homework the teacher ask the students to write a short composition
with the title If I was rich and famous, I would..
