ASSIGNMENT 1
QUESTION 1
The ZYX corporation chemical processing plant uses computer to monitor the
temperature and pressure of 3 chemical tank processing aircraft paint as below.
Whenever a temperature or a pressure exceeds the danger limit, an internal tank
sensor applies a 1 to its corresponding output to the computer. If all conditions
are OK, then all outputs are 0.

c) What will be the output reads by the computer in hexadecimal if the
temperature and the pressure in both tanks A and C are high?
d) If only 2 tanks (A and C) are being monitored, what is the octal number read
by the computer if tank C has a high temperature and high pressure?

QUESTION 3
A jet aircraft employs a system for monitoring the pressure, temperature and
RPM values of its engines using sensors that operate as follows:
RPM sensor output = 0 only when speed < 4800 rpm
P sensor output = 0 only when pressure < 220 psi
T sensor output = 0 only when temperature < 2000F
Given figure 3 show the logic circuit that controls a cockpit warning light for
certain combinations of engine conditions. Assume that a HIGH at output W
activates the warning light.
a) Determine what engine conditions will give a warning to the pilot.
b) Change this circuit to one using all NAND gates
