33. Teaching methods adopted to improve student learning
Besides chalk and board, Computers are also used for teaching. English films
are also shown. Students are encouraged to participate in group discussions. Peer
teaching has been encouraged. Special classes are organized for slow learners.

The English department has participated in the following activities

S.B Tara, HOD, Dept. of English is the IQAC and NAAC coordinator.
The other responsibilities include contribution as convener and member of various
committees.

35. SWOC analysis of the department and Future plans
The strength of the department lies in the dedication of the teachers and the
students efforts to learn a subject which most rural students find difficult to get through.
Extra classes are conducted for slow learners and the results are encouraging
except students of B.A who answer all other papers in Kannada.
Future plans
1. To offer English as an elective for B.A students
2. To train students to speak confidently in English for better job
opportunities.
