1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 OBJECT

This document provides the Release Notes for the WPS3.0, current version V3.0.18.1 for WCDMA.
This document describes the software line up for WPS 3.0, feature compliance, resolved problems in
the load, known problems and known workarounds to be applied.
1.2 SCOPE OF THIS DOCUMENT
This document covers the WPS software, the feature compliance to the OAM9.1, Plan of Record and
list of known issues outstanding for these releases.

4 WPS 3.0 LOAD
4.1 WPS VERSION INFORMATION
4.1.1 License Information

License Required.
Demo license file is provided as part of this delivery

Starting from WPS 1.0, a license is required to be able to use WPS.
Before the demo license expires, generate a request for the appropriate license file by using the
activation IDs.
Note: To add the Bulk Operations license to the existing advanced license package, repeat the
procedure by using the appropriate activation ID to retrieve the license file from the LKDI server.
For more information, refer to Installation and Administration Guide

You can also continue to use the demo license available in the ISO image, until the 31

* The Xmx is a java parameter that determines the maximum size of a specific part of the process
memory. Its value is set by the WPS Configuration tool automatically depending on the chosen
profile.
The amount of RAM indicated in this table corresponds to the consumption for 1 WPS user on the
Citrix server. To calculate the possible number of users on a Citrix server, just follow the following
rule:

where:
Nmax = maximum number of WPS instances running in parallel
RAMperUser(profile, WindowsType) = Amount of RAM required for 1 user for a given profile and
Windows type. This is the values indicated in the table above.
RAMserver = Total amount of RAM on the Citrix server
RAMusedbyOS = Total amount of RAM used by OS Mostly 2GB

4.3.3 Note for WPS installation on Windows7/ Windows Server 2008 (R2).

When installing WPS on Windows7 or Windows Server 2008 (R2) the installer must be launched
with the option run as administrator.
This must be used even if the user is already declared as administrator.
The option run as administrator is accessible by right-clicking on the .exe file.

If this option is not used, errors are frequently encountered when installing WPS on
Windows7. The installation fails because some directories appear as read-only for WPS
installer.

4.4.2 Features restrictions LR13.3W

4.4.2.1 FRS 165665 - KPI for 9952 WPS v3.0 - WCDMA
Status: Partially compliant
o Restriction1: Citrix. Execution time of export snapshot and save workspace on local PC
takes long time.
CR 00911074: Rejected-Closed
Root Cause Analysis: When WPS runs under Citrix, it runs on the server and the
accesses to the server disks stay quite good. As soon as the WPS running on the
server under Citrix is accessing Desktop disks, r/w accesses are managed
through ICA and the performance decreases. Degradations of performances are
mainly due to Citrix implementation, but also to the disk access performance
difference between Desktop and Server, and also to the network bandwidth
between Desktop and Server.
Recommendation: For WPS v3.0, recommendation can be done to the user to
privilege working on the server better than desktop, then ending the session
with a final snapshot export or file saving on desktop.

o Restriction2: Execution time of some WCDMA checks is long.
Execution of check NEI_UMTS_0090 is very long when many errors are encountered,
around 100 minutes for an XL snapshot with 5000 errors.
CR 00826775: no possible fixes.
Recommendation: It is recommended to deactivate this check for a global
Check session.


4.4.2.2 FRS 165667 WPS Support of Office 2007&2010
Status: Compliant with restrictions on one function

o Restriction1: Export/Import tabular to/from Excel file
Although the function is globally available, several issues exist related to how WPS
handles:

- big excel file (more than 32767 characters) CR 1060897 - 01060893
- object with path longer than 31 characters CR 1060905
- import of excel file with many object, unexpected warning about bad format is raised
randomly. CR 1061893
- field details in Window Import tabular from Excel file: size default for displaying the
text is incorrect (too small) and there is no way to change it. CR 01060869

Issues delivery planned WPS3.1
- analysis of nodes from file content. Import should analyze all nodes from file content
(root objects first and then according to hierarchy) CR 1060911

o Restriction2: There is a problem with NodeB Data Export when export is made towards
xlsx format: internal error is issued. There is no issue with xls format.

4.4.2.3 Citrix XenApp 6.5 for WPS3.1
Status: Partially Compliant
o Restriction1: When User try to export an object from Network tree to a forbidden
directory (user does not have write rights on it), object is not exported but no warning is
displayed

-> WPS v3.1. Kernel. Problems with files export to forbidden folders.
-> Issue is not new. Issue is also applicable to Standalone PC.

o Restriction2: : If user doesn't have access to the user folder, WPS hangs at start up
without error message. The user has to end WPS process. Expected behavior is that a
friendly error message should be displayed for the user (for example, Access is denied.
This working directory is invalid: <invalid directory>), and WPS application should not
start up for not authorized Citrix user.

4.4.2.4 FRS 171498- WPS Advanced Support of iBTS Configuration LR13.3W evolutions
4.4.2.4.1 FRS 33648 Support of 24 cells on the NodeB - Step 2

Restriction1: The check BTSEQ_REF_7 doesnt work as validation check in the operation
Antenna System Definition.
CR 01063426: planned 4.0

-> The issue is not blocking and exists since a long time. An enhancement is
proposed in WPS4.0

o Restriction2: WPS v3.1. NodeB Wizard: Internal Error in the op. "Configure BTS after Cell
Planning load".

Internal error is raised at completion of operation
Internal error is encountered only if LCG has been deleted
Impacted scenario:

4.4.2.4.2 FRS 119185 - MC-TRDU 900 1PA 2G + 1PA 3G
o Restriction1: WPS v3.1: NodeB Wizard: The rule RU_BtsEq_0401 doesn't work correctly
as precondition for operations. Some operations are available in Wizard when they
should not be available.

This issue is not blocking. The case happens for NOT nominal cases where MC-
TRDU working in bi-techno 2G+3G do not have ALL same flag setting for the
whole cluster

o Restriction2: WPS v3.1. NodeB Wizard: Internal Error in the op. "Configure BTS after Cell
Planning load". Same as Restriction 2 for FRS 33648 Support of 24 cells on the NodeB.

4.4.2.4.3 FRS 111041 - Support of 12 antenna pairs / FRS 159290 - Multiple RRH per cell -
Extended
o Restriction1: WPS 3.1: NodeB Wizard: Internal error is raised for precondition check
BTSEQ_REF_137. Same as Restriction 3 for FRS 33648 Support of 24 cells on the NodeB.

o Restriction2: Creating a BTSEquipment (Hotelling-any model), sub-object Capacity is not
created.
