1. HR Administrative Services (PA-AS)
This component enables you to execute all HR activities, such as hiring or leaving of an
employee, within the SAP Enterprise Portal. From selecting an activity to storing the associated
document, the system supports you in performing these process flows.
The component uses the portal role of HR Administrator to support the central processing of
personnel data. It also encourages decentralized execution of HR activities by including
managers and employees (where necessary) directly in the process flow and thus reducing the
workload for the HR department.

The following aspects can increase the effectiveness and optimize the costs of your process
flows:
Exclusive use of the portal to execute the activities enables all persons involved to have easy
access to the required data. As the portal is the only medium that permits the input of data,
multiple entry of data is avoided, thus reducing the error percentage.
The automatic inclusion of all required persons and roles from the request to the approval
simplifies the communication paths.
The option of monitoring and including process flows that are currently running down to the
individual processing steps reduces the processing time.

HR Administrative Services depicts HR activities using processes. The focus is on those processes
that pertain to an event in the personal life of an employee or in the work place and require the
involvement of several people, such as hiring, transfer, or maternity leave.
You enter the data required for a process in interactive forms that are customized for each
process step and for each agent. The system then forwards these forms automatically to the
relevant agents, for example, for review or for approval. When a process has been completed,
the system can store the corresponding documents in the personnel file of the relevant
employee. In each process step, you enter only the data that is required for this particular step,
enabling you to make contact with the relevant decision maker or store of information in each
case.


2. Approving Working Times for the Cross-Application Time Sheet (CATS)

Line managers, project leads, and other authorized persons can use this Web application to
approve or reject the working times recorded using the Cross-Application Time Sheet (CATS).
The Web application supports periodic data approval. It replaces or enhances the workflow-
based approval of working times.

The Web application is designed to simplify and accelerate approval of recorded working times.
You can therefore group data in Customizing according to collective approval criteria and then
carry out a mass approval. You can also approve this data individually.

3. Enterprise Compensation Management

Enterprise Compensation Management (PA-EC) is a comprehensive solution combining both SAP
backend and web-based technologies that helps you:
Plan remuneration policies effectively and keep costs under control while remaining
competitive.
Motivate and retain your employees, allowing them to contribute to the success of your
company.
Create and allocate budgets.
Handle job pricing with the new salary survey tool.
You can either implement the new Enterprise Compensation Management component (PA-EC)
or migrate from the old Compensation Management component (PA-CM), but you cannot run
the old component and the new one in parallel.

4. Employee Self-Service
The Business Package for Employee Self-Service (SAP ERP) 1.0 enables employees to create,
display, and change their own HR-related data in the Enterprise Portal. It covers data from
various business areas:

Working Time
Career and Job
Employee Search
Personal Data
Travel Management
Corporate Information
Life and Work Events

5. Position Budgeting and Control (PA-PM-PB)
The objective of this component is to finance employees efficiently in accordance with budget
or legal requirements. There are two tools available for this:
The commitment processor for monitoring funds usage
Personnel budget plan management for managing the funds that are available according to
the personnel budget plan

The commitment processor helps you to use the budget available in Funds Management
effectively. The automatic generation of personnel commitment with event-controlled
background processes contributes to this. Automatic commitment creation provides you with a
precise overview of the existing commitments in the area of personnel expenses. This ensures
that you can identify and correct any excess or inefficient coverage.
Personnel budget plan management provides the tools required to map the personnel budget
plan and assign persons and positions to the personnel budget plan.
6. Objective Setting and Appraisals
This component supports you when you perform user-defined appraisal processes that assure
appraisals are performed in a formalized and standardized manner.

You can perform the typical phases of an appraisal process such as a planning phase, a review
phase, and the actual appraisal phase. In addition, integration with SAP Business Warehouse
enables you to run various reports to evaluate appraisals.

Customizing settings allow you to depict different appraisals in the system such as performance
appraisals and potential assessments, 360 appraisals, objective setting agreements, references,
and checklists. Furthermore, you can use workflows to support the appraisal process.

The component enables you to create re-useable appraisal templates in the Appraisal Catalog.
You can use these templates to create general appraisal documents centrally or to create
appraisal documents for specific individuals. You can include objective setting agreements
manually or automatically via integration with other mySAP components in these appraisal
documents.

As part of follow-up processing for appraisal documents, you can transfer information to other
application components automatically, for example, you can transfer qualifications to Personnel
Development or valuation results to Compensation Management.

7. Personnel Cost Planning and Simulation

This component enables you to execute operational personnel cost planning. You plan the
development of your employees wages and salaries and employee benefit costs, for example,
employer contributions to social insurance and further education and training costs.

You can simulate different planning scenarios that are based on various assumptions and
analyze the effects they have on the company. Personnel Cost Planning and Simulation enables
you to support strategic personnel management and the overall strategy of your company.

8. Manager Self-Service

Many companies decentralize Personnel Management tasks and decision processes by
delegating these responsibilities to operative management levels. Consequently, managers need
all applications, services, and relevant information to be stored in a central location so that they
can perform their management tasks and make the correct decisions.

This business package provides all your employees who perform management tasks at an
operative level with the applications and services that they need to perform their tasks. It also
provides managers with centralized access to all the important data and information for their
particular area of responsibility.
