Yuliana Dewi Karina. K3310086. OPTIMIZATION yield, secondary metabolites LEVELS OF

MINERALS AND EXTRACT ANT NESTS Akua (Myrmecodia pendans Merr. & Perry) FROM
Wamena, Papua EXTRACTION METHOD WITH THREE VARIATIONS. Chemistry Seminar,
Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University March Surakarta. June 2014.

The purpose of this study is: (1) aware of any significant differences yield, mineral content (Na,
Ca, Mg, K, P, Fe and Zn) and secondary metabolites (flavonoids, tannins, tocopherols) Akua ant
extract produced from a variety of methods extraction, (2) determine the extraction method of
ant nest can produce yield, mineral content, and the most optimal secondary metabolites.
This research was conducted with an experimental method in P.MIPA Chemistry Laboratory and
Laboratory of Mathematics and Science Center, University of March. Hypocotyl samples were
obtained from the ant nest Wamena, Jayawijaya, Papua. Data collection techniques in this study
are: (1) Preparation of samples and sample preparation into a powder form, (2) Extraction with
various extraction methods (traditional method, maceration and soxhletasi), (3) Determination of
the yield of the extraction, (4) Determination of minerals (Na, Ca, Mg, K, P, Fe and Zn) at
different extraction methods (5) Determination of secondary metabolites (flavonoids, tannins and
tocopherols) on the various methods of extraction, (6) Determination of the extraction method
that produces mineral content and The most optimal secondary metabolites in extracts Akua ant
From the results of this study disimpulakan that: (1) There is a significant difference in yield
(extract Akua ant), the levels of minerals and secondary metabolites produced from each
extraction method (traditional method, maceration and soxhletasi), (2) extraction method which
can produce yield the most optimal method of maceration (32.300 0.181 g), (3) Traditional
methods produce minerals calcium levels (0.391 0.002)% and iron (0.007 0.000)% of the
optimum. Maceration method produces potassium levels (9.774 0.039)%, phosphorus (0.009
0.000)% and zinc (0.005 0.000)% of the optimum. While the method soxhletasi obtained from
sodium mineral content (0.131 0.001)% and magnesium (0.082 0.000)%. (4) The traditional
method of generating the levels of flavonoids (0.391 0.001)% and tocopherol (1.695 0.004)%
most optimal, maceration method produces tannin levels (5.486 0.013)% of the optimum. (5)
To obtain the yield, mineral content, and secondary metabolites required different methods
according to the needs of minerals and secondary metabolites ekatrak want in an optimal way.

Keywords: levels of minerals, flavonoids, tannins, tocopherol, Myrmecodia pendans Merr. &
