Senior of the Year Every October 1st the Waterside hosts the Senior of the Year Award for the Town of Carleton Place. Each year, seniors living within the town limits can be nominated by friends, family or accquaintances. Each nominee needs 2 letters of recommondation stating why they feel their nominee should be Senior of the Year. A nominating committee is formed to review all nominations . The committee looks for a senior who goes above & beyond in Carleton Place, volunteers their time for the betterment of others & is committed volunteering in the community. If you are interested in nominating someone, please see Patty for more information. Yet again another wonderful event was held at the Waterside with Community Members and guests, giving us a grand total of 150 people in attendance for our corn roast and peach cobbler dinner. Many hands were on board early that morning to shuck 320 cobs of corn, roll 15lbs of cold cuts, lug chairs and tables. The event began on time with everyone filing in to the gym to enjoy entertainment by the Diplomats who did not disappoint. Following the meal delivery the Bowes Brothers took the stage for the first time ever at Waterside. The boys played many toe tapping good songs and even had our Community Director join in with the spoons. Andy Bowes, the youngest brother of the Bowes Brother, showed off his talents of yodeling which amazed many!
