BBC1's costume drama Little Dorrit ended with 4.2 million viewers last night, Thursday 11 December.
The final instalment of the 14-part Charles Dickens adaptation drew an average audience share of 19% on
the 8pm hour, according to unofficial overnight figures.
Little Dorrit, which aired in half-hour episodes for the majority of its run, launched with a 60-minute
special in October with 6.3 million and a 24% share on a Sunday night, before moving to a twice weekly,
30-minute slot on Wednesday and Thursday.
ITV1's The Bill won the 8pm hour with 5.1 million and a 23% share. BBC2's The Hairy Bakers' Christmas
Special gained 3.1 million and a 14% share in the same slot.
Channel 4's A Place in the Sun: Home or Away drew 1.4 million and a 7% share in the 8pm hour, with a
further 169,000 on Channel 4 +1 an hour later.
Channel Five's Secrets of Egypt: Sphinx claimed 1.3 million and a 6% share between 8pm and 9pm.

In the 9pm hour, which drew low ratings across the board, ITV1 came out on top with a Real Crime
documentary on the Jamie Bulger case attracting 3.4 million viewers and a 16% share.
The penultimate instalment of BBC1's drama Apparitions picked up 3 million and a 14% share.
BBC2's Never Mind the Buzzcocks attracted 2.6 million and a 12% share at 9pm, with The Graham Norton
Show claiming 1.9 million and a 9% share between 9.30pm and 10pm.
Channel 4's Cutting Edge documentary The Pregnant Man pulled in 2 million and a 9% share in the 9pm
hour, with a further 188,000 on Channel 4 +1.
Five's terrestrial movie premiere of Bad Santa gained 2 million and an 11% share between 9pm and
11.05pm.
