When a boy turned seven the parents

would decide if he wanted to become a
knight or not, if he did, he would get
sent away to a castle of a wealthy man,
relative or knight. There he would serve
as a page. As a page, he would be a
servant for the wealthy man, relative or
knight performing tasks such as serving
meals, cleaning his clothes and carrying
messages. The page learned the proper
way to behave and good manners.
The page also began training to fight,
he would practice with other pages using
wooden shield and swords.
Squire:
Around the age of fourteen, the page would
become a squire. As a squire he would take
care of the knights horses, clean his
armour and weapons, and accompany the
knight on the battlefield.
Squires trained with real weapons, they had
to be in good shape and strong. Squires had
to practice their horsemanship, perfecting
their skills. Most boys worked five or six
years as a Squire.
Dubbing Ceremony:
If a squire proved his bravery and skill
at battle, he would become a knight at
the age of around twenty-one.
At the ceremony he would kneel before
another knight, lord or king who would
tap the squire on the shoulder with his
sword, making him a knight. At the
ceremony, the new knight would take an
oath to honour and protect his king and
the church. He would be presented with a
pair or riding spurs and a sword.

What happened if a knight broke the
code of chivalry:
The Code of Chivalry wasnt a strict
thing, most knights didnt actually
follow these rules and could get away
with it. They treated lower class
brutally
A cowardly knight who disregarded the
code of chivalry faced shame. First
his armour was stripped off and
cracked. Next his spurs were cut off
and his sword was broken over his head.
Fact:
The word chivalry
comes from the
French words cheval
(horse) and
chevalier
(horse-riding
knight).
