The Recreation Project (TRP) is a non-profit adventure-based therapy
program that is working on the ground with youth in post-war
northern Uganda. Youth participate in adventure-based therapy and sports programs, helping them internalize the important life-skills and character-building skills needed to navigate a new landscape. The Recreation Project (TRP) has operated in Uganda for 4 years and has recently incorporated in the US creating an immediate need for operational support state side. Fundraising and Development Internship with TRP TRP is seeking an Intern to assist the Fundraising and Development Coordinator in leading stateside awareness and fundraising efforts for our small but crucial non-profit in northern Uganda. This internship will be based out of TRPs office space in the Posner Center for International Development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about positive social change and comfortable taking on significant responsibilities crucial to TRPs growth. This position offers a lot of freedom to pursue areas of personal interest and to meaningfully contribute to our vital work bringing healing and hope to post-conflict communities. Although this internship is unpaid, we would gladly work with your college or institution to provide internship credit.
Responsibilities Fundraising: Assist in planning and implementing of grassroots fundraising activities including events, on-line campaigns, and mailing campaigns; Research and assist in writing grants to support TRP programming. Marketing: Develop and maintain a marketing strategy utilizing TRPs social media tools; update TRPs website, support TRPs communication and branding strategy. Administration: Assist with administrative tasks such as coordinating tasks of volunteers, writing thank-you letters, and tracking donations
Other tasks and opportunities may emerge depending upon TRPs needs and intern interest. Desired Qualifications: Passion about TRPs mission and work Degree (completed or pursuing) in International Development or related field Excellent written and verbal communication Creative and organized self-starter Ability to work with little supervision Experience with social media marketing Grant research experience (grant writing experience a plus) Access to a laptop computer Experience with Donor Tools a plus
Terms: 10-15 hours a week Unpaid
