What aspects of the teaching or content of this course
were especially effective?
Doctor Polando did a great job being active in this course! She asked us plenty of questions to keep our interest
in the content. We definitely had opportunities to learn many different things.
It really helped that Dr. P had been to Australia before because she knew what to expect and how to keep our
group on schedule. She also knew what was important to see and what was not as important. I really enjoyed
the tour guides because they gave us a lot of inside information that we didn't necessarily get at the actual site
of the tour.
We got to learn so much while we were I Australia. We went to many different places to learn about the
different cultures and history.
I really appreciated how quickly the rubric was given us to after our return. Dr. Polando booked tours that were 4.

very informative and gave us amazing opportunites to step out of our comfort zone. She literally immersed us
in the culture of Australia.
Being able to see firsthand customs and rituals of the Aboriginal Culture and visiting the wildlife habitats 5.
Meeting the Aboriginals really helped learn about their culture, and interacting with other Australians helped
learn about them also.
Dr. Polando really promoted exploratory learning so we each learned about aspects of Australia that interested
us. There was also a variety of experiences planned for us.
Meeting with the aborine people and learning about their culture 8.
Being in Australia! 9.
What changes could be made to improve the teaching or
the content of this course?
If the course was another day or two or a week longer. We could learn much more but we were very active for
at least 12 hours a day. This has never happened in another January course.
I liked being in the bigger group. More questions were asked, so I felt like I learned more about Australia in
the bigger group. We would be able to split off in groups at night and I would have liked to have had nights
together as a group and not so separated.
Nothing 3.
No changes. :) 4.
Longer trip and more time spent together as a group 5.
A packet with less reading material. It was filled with very interesting and helpful information, but it was a lot
to read.
There are no changes that I would suggest. This was an amazing experience. 7.
Stay longer so more can be learned and not feel so rushed 8.
Having more time in Australia to see more of the cities! 9.
