With over 28 years of experience in various functions, Vivek is now the Chief Human Resources Officer
of the company.Vivek joined HCL Infosystems in 1986 as a trainee engineer.Over the years, Vivek has
been an integral part of the growth story of HCL Infosystems.He is credited with innovative HR initiatives
that have made HCL among the best companies to work for year after year.Vivek gained intricate
knowledge of the business as he held various positions including Area Manager and Regional Manager
out of Bangalore in System Support and Sales functions. From 1995 to 2001, Vivek was a part of the
successful Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG) of the company that tracked and hunted down new business
opportunities.Parallely Vivek was also involved in HR roles and functions for his excellent acumen for
managing employees and their needs. Vivek was instrumental in successfully setting up the training and
development centre in Hyderabad in 1995 within a very short deadline. His appointment as the Chief
HRO was a natural progression when he took over the function in 2002. Vivek initiated various innovative
HR practices such as hiring a complete batch of non IT executives to bring in a fresh perspective and
impetus to the business sales team. He introduced a new model of recruitment whereby HCL Infosystems
tied up with state governments like the Government of Punjab. Such an arrangement also generated job
opportunities for talented individuals from small towns. Vivek was also instrumental in conceptualizing
and implementing a new and innovative structured training programme - the four dimensional framework
for learning and training HCLites. The innovative programme married organizational needs with individual
goals and needs. The programme is based on three strong learning platforms - iLearn - Technical &
Domain trainings, iWin Sales Training Academy and iLead - Leadership Development. HCL is such a
large part of Viveks life that his loved ones often say that he was born and brought up at HCL! Vivek is an
avid cricket buff who idolizes Sachin Tendulkar. Vivek hails from Belgaum, Karnataka and presently
resides in Noida with his wife Amruta, son Prasanna and daughter Gauri.Vivek Punekar - Chief Human
