I hereby acknowledge receipt of the Raman Construction Employee Handbook. I understand that it is
my continuing responsibility to read and know its contents. I also understand and agree that the
Employee Handbook is not any employment contract for any specific period of employment or for
continuing or long term employment.

I understand and agree that employment at Company is at will. I also understand and agree that any
provision of this handbook may be amended or revised at any time by Company with or without
notice.

1 INTRODUCTION
This document has been developed by Human Resources Department in order to familiarize
employees with Raman Construction Pvt. Ltd. and provide information about working
conditions, procedures, and benefits affecting employment at Raman Construction Pvt. Ltd.
This handbook, however, cannot anticipate every situation or answer every question about
employment. It is not an employment contract or a legal document. In order to retain
necessary flexibility in the administration of policies and procedures, Company reserves the
right to change or revise policies, procedures and benefits described in this handbook, other
than the employment-at-will provisions, whenever the company determines that such action is
warranted.
None of the following policies or standards of conduct are intended, nor shall they have the
effect, of interfering or inhibiting any employee in the exercise of any right guaranteed or
protected by law.
1.1 Welcome
Welcome to Raman Construction Pvt. Ltd. We are happy to have you as a new member of
our family!
1.2 History
Raman Construction is a well-established "A" class construction company in Nepal having
over 23 years of experience in all types of construction and infrastructure development works.
The company started its operation on September 16
th
, 1990 as a sole-proprietorship firm and
was converted into a private limited company in March 15th, 1999.

Raman has been established with the aim of providing construction services in the field of
road, highway, flyovers, tunnels, bridge, drainage, irrigation, water supply, sewerage
treatment, river training, building, hydro power, airport and various industrial complexes etc.
Raman is able to offer complete comprehensive construction services which cover the civil
engineering and structure works. We are well aware of the variety of construction works
required by different departments under the Government of Nepal, agencies, and private
sectors. Since the establishment of our company, it has successfully completed large scale
infrastructure projects and emerged as one of the best construction companies in Nepal.
2 EMPLOYEE DEFINITION AND STATUS
An employee of Raman Construction is a person who regularly works for Raman
Construction on a wage or salary basis.
2.1 Probationary Period for New Employees
Raman Construction monitors and evaluates every new employees performance for three
months to determine whether further employment in a specific position or with Raman
Construction is appropriate. Your appointment will be confirmed on satisfactory completion of
the 3 month period. During this probationary period you will be given appropriate support and
development opportunity to help you reach the required standards.

3 ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES
3.1 Personnel Records and Administration
The task of handling personnel records and related administration functions at Raman
Construction has been assigned to the Human Resources Department.
3.2 Change of Personal Data
An Employees personal data should be accurate and current at all times. It is the
responsibility of each Employee to promptly notify their Superior or Personnel Department of
any changes in personnel data such as: (a) Mailing address, (b) Residential address, (c)
Telephone numbers, (d) Change in marital status, (e) Income tax number, (f) Name and
number of dependents, and (g) Individuals to be contacted in the event of an emergency.
3.3 Health and Safety
The safety and health of employees is a priority. RAMAN CONSTRUCTION makes every
effort to comply with all basic workplace safety requirements. RAMAN CONSTRUCTIONs
workplace safety rules and regulations are the following:
Always utilize personal protective equipment provided by the district - i.e. goggles,
aprons, gloves, and ear protection.
Do not use equipment if you are not familiar with it or operate machinery without
proper training.
Employees should report all work-related injuries and accidents immediately to their
supervisor,
Be aware of your surroundings. Pick up clutter, keep your work area or room clean
and free of clutter, debris, etc.
Each employee is expected to obey safety rules and exercise caution and common sense in
all work activities.
3.4 Violence in the Workplace
Raman Construction has adopted a policy prohibiting workplace violence. Consistent with this
policy, acts or threats of physical violence, including intimidation, harassment, and/or
coercion, which involve or affect Raman construction or which occur on Raman Construction
or client property, will not be tolerated.
3.5 Alcohol and Substance Abuse
The Raman Construction realizes that the misuse of drugs and alcohol impairs employee
health and productivity. Drug and alcohol problems result in unsafe working conditions for all
employees and customers. The Company is committed to maintaining a productive, safe, and
healthy work environment, free of unauthorized drug and alcohol use.
Any employee involved in the unlawful use, sale, manufacturing, dispensing or possession of
controlled substances, illicit drugs and alcohol on Company premises or work sites, or
working under the influence of such substances, will be subject to disciplinary action up to
and including dismissal.

3.6 Personal Belongings.
All Employees are responsible for their own personal belongings and properties left at the
office. The Company assumes no liabilities for any loss or damage to personal belongings
and property.
3.7 Company Property
Raman Construction will provide employees with the equipment needed to do their job. None
of this equipment should be used for personal use, nor removed from the physical confines of
Raman Construction unless it is approved for a job that specifically requires use of company
equipment outside the physical facility.
Employee who uses the Companys portable property such as Mobile Phones, Laptop, Video
Projector, Camera and video camera are responsible for the safekeeping of these equipment.
The Employee will be held responsible for any loss or damage to these portable properties.
Cost of replacement or repair will be borne by the Employee.
3.8 Complaint Procedure
Employees who have a job-related issue, question, or complaint should first discuss it with
their immediate supervisor. If the issue cannot be resolved at this level, Raman Construction
encourages employees to contact the HR Department.

4 ATTENDANCE AND LEAVE
4.1 Hour of work
The normal work week for Raman Construction shall consist of Six (6) days, 7 hour day.
Ordinarily, work hours are from 10:00 am 5:00 pm, Sunday through Friday.

Subject to Raman Construction work assignments and Directors approval, the employees
Inline Manager or Supervisor shall determine the hours of employment that best suits the
needs of the work to be done by the individual employee.

For the employee assigned for any particular project the hour of work and shift may vary
depending upon the project requirement. Project Manager shall determine the hours of work
based on the project work schedule.

Employee may request the opportunity to vary their work schedule (within employer-defined
limits) to better accommodate personal responsibilities.
4.2 Absence and Lateness
Raman Construction values good attendance at work and is committed to improving the
general wellbeing of its employee to achieve this. From time to time, it may be necessary for
an employee to be late or absent from work. Raman Construction is aware that emergencies,
illnesses, or pressing personal business that cannot be scheduled outside work hours may
arise. It is the responsibility of all employees to contact all affected parties if they will be
absent or late.
Excessive absence, tardiness or leaving early will be grounds for discipline up to and
including termination. Depending on the circumstances, including the employees length of

employment, Raman Construction may counsel employees prior the termination for excessive
absences, tardiness or leaving early.
4.3 Meal and Break Periods
All employees and associated members are provided with one meal period each work day.
Timing for meal period between 2:00 p.m. - 3.00 p.m for the length of 30 minutes.
4.4 Holiday Policy
All Raman Construction employees of regular status are eligible for holiday pay. Holiday pay
will be based on the employment status of the employee, i.e., full-time employees will be
credited with 8 hours of holiday pay, per holiday.
Raman Construction recognizes the following holidays as paid holidays:
- Nepal New Year (Nava Barsha) - 1 day
- Republic Day ( Ganatrantra Diwas) - 1 day
- Janai Purnima - 1 day
- Teej (Only for Female) - 1 day
- Ghatasthapana - 1 day
- Fulpati - 1 day
- Astami - 1 day
- Nawani - 1 day
- Vijaya Dashami - 1 day
- Ekaadasi - 1 day
- Dwardasi - 1 day
- Laxmi Pooja - 1 day
- Govardan Pooja - 1 day
- Bhai Tikaa - 1 day
- Maghe Sankranti - 1 day
- Shivaraatri - 1 day
- Holi - 1 day
4.5 Personal Leave
Employees are eligible for 14 paid personal days per calendar year at the rate of 1.2 day
every month. Employee under probationary period will accrue 1 personal day for every 3
months worked. Employee should inform immediate supervisor at least 1 day prior leave
commence and fill the leave request form and take the approval.
Employee who have completed 5 years with the organization shall be entitled for additional 7
days personal leave.
Personal days may be used at the employees discretion for religious holidays and personal
matters. Personal days not used by the end of the fiscal year will be paid out to the employee
in the final salary payment for that fiscal year.

4.6 Compensatory Leave






5 COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
5.1 Pay Periods
Salary of the previous month is paid by the first week of subsequent month.
5.2 Festival (Dashain) Allowance
Once in a year during Dashain Festival, Regular Fulltime and Contractual employee shall be
entitled for Dashain Festival Allowance amounting one months basic salary. Such Festival
Allowance will be prorated based on the joining date of the employee.




6 Separation of Employment
6.1 Resignation
Employee are requested to provide written resignation letter or notification to his/ her
Manager.
Key Employees - Managerial Level and Officer Level shall provide minimum one (1) month
notice of their intention to separate from the company to allow a reasonable amount of time to
transfer ongoing workloads and handover the duties to his/her successor.
Assistant and Support level employee shall provide minimum 2 weeks notice of their intention
to separate from the company.
6.2 Automatic Separation
When an employee is absent from work for 7 consecutive workdays and fails to contact his/
her supervisor (Job Abandonment). In such case scenario.
6.3 Final Pay
An employee who resigns or is discharged from the duty, as per Clause 6.1, will be paid
through the last day of work, plus any unused Paid leave accrued for the year.
