I am really excited that the fall months are fast approaching. School is back in session, all the summer trips have come and gone, and the next thing you know the foliage on the trees will be just beautiful. With the fall comes a new opportunity to get involved at Fifth Avenue. New classes are beginning, church activities will be increasing, and your opportunity to grow spiritually will be expanding. All that is left is for you to take advantage of what we offer at FACC. We are going to do all that we can to help you better connect with one another as a church and we hope as you connect, youll build lasting relationships with other age groups. We also want to encourage more of you to take ownership at FACC by finding an area of service with the church. Everyone is needed! It is our goal to help you become better equipped to serve. As we do, we are going to create an environment here where you are considered not as members but ministry partners in the work of Christ. Will you prayerfully consider this? We need now, more than ever, for people to be committed to His cause here on Fifth & Broad streets. Over the course of the next several weeks, I will leave you with a specific prayer I want you to pray for our church. These prayers are not original with me but are in a good book I am working through. Here is that first prayer: God, open my eyes that I might see my church as You see it. Let me see where change needs to take place, even if it is painful to me. And use me, to be an instrument of change whatever the cost. I hope you will commit this concern to prayer each day this week. Just imagine what God can do through His people who love His church that much. Final thought: Middle age is when your age starts to show around your middle (Bob Hope). In His Service, Brad

After the summer of 1964, life for Jocie Brooke will never be the same.
Life-changing events rarely happen in quiet Hollyhill, Kentucky, and when they do, they are few and far between. But for young Jocie Brooke and her family, they happen all at once during the humid summer of 1964. Though on the surface things are just fine, it seems like everyone in Jocie's life has something they're not saying, something they're hiding from her-- and from themselves. As Jocie digs into her family's past, she stirs up a whirlwind of discoveries. Will she find the answers everyone so desperately needs? Or will her questions lead to truths better left hidden?
Combining unforgettable characters, true-to-life struggles, and the perfect dose of humor and nostalgia, this riveting story from bestselling author Ann Gabhart explores the very essence of new life and love. CRAFT CORNER Saturday, September 13 th ~ 9-noon
Bring any craft you are working on!
Also, the ladies will be continuing with the pillowcase dress project. There are lots of ways to help with this project, including cutting 6 elastic, cutting 38 bias tape, cutting arm holes, sorting finished dresses, and putting bias tape with a matching pillow case.

IDES stands for International Disaster Emergency Service. It is not a ministry unto itself. It is a ministry that partners with Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in the United States and their missionaries overseas. All their projects touch on caring for the poor, the sick, the hungry, and the homeless. Their other objective is that those they help hear the Good News about Jesus. In the month of September they will have distributed $181,374.50. (This total is down). It will go to parts of the world affected by some disaster like: India, Kenya, Thailand, Haiti, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, and Myanmar. We send them $150.00 each month.
Im hungry Im scared: We hear these words from our families from time to time. But true hunger or terror is not something we know much about. I used to hear the phrase our poorest people are better off than the poor in the world. I didnt comprehend what that meant, but one only has to follow the news to hear and see what real hunger and terror mean. Thank God we can help them!
Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered Worship We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace- based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical Balance Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)
Global Evangelism We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon- Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and Ministry After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.
Discipleship We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.
Social Conscience We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
OUR PURPOSE
WE EXIST TO
Exalt Gods Greatness; Evangelize Gods Work Equip Gods People Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ
OUR MISSION To Love God and Love People! How Can I Respond Today? At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member. If you would like to take a Curious class, please indicate this on your Silent Roll Call Card. Lets Get I t Right Philippians 4:6-9 Brad Seevers preaching
