Sampurnanand Sanskrit University is an Asian institution of higher learning located in
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, specialized in the study of Sanskrit and related fields. In 1791, during the British Raj in India, Jonathan Duncan, resident of the East India Company proposed the establishment of a Sanskrit college for the development and preservation of Sanskrit Vangmaya to demonstrate British support for Indian education.. The first teacher of the institution was Pandit Kashinath. In 1958, the efforts of Sampurnanand changed the status of the institution from college to Sanskrit university. In 1974, the name was changed to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. Various Faculties are: Veda-Vedanga, Sahitya Sanskriti, Darshana (Philosophy), Shraman Vidya, Adhunik Jyan Vigyan, Ayurveda.
Gurudwara Sahib GURUDWARA SHRI GURU BAAG SAHIB is situated in Di Banaras in Uttar Pradesh. Gurdwara Guru Ka Bagh (Varanasi) commemorates the visit by Guru Nanak to Varanasi at the beginning of the sixteenth century. The occasion was the Sivaratri of 1563,. The main functions that are carried out in a daily basis include: Shabad Kirtan: which is the singing of hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib. Strictly speaking only Shabads from Guru Granth Sahib, Dasam Granth and the compositions of Bhai Gurdas and Bhai Nand Lal, can be performed within a gurdwara. It is improper to sing hymns to rhythmic folk tunes or popular film tunes. Paath: which is religious discourse and reading of Gurbani from the Guru Granth Sahib, with its explanations. Broadly here are two types of Paath : Akhand Paath and Sadharan Paath. Sangat and Pangat: which is a free community kitchen as a langar [1] for all visitors, regardless of religious, regional, cultural, racial, caste or class affiliations. A typical layout for the Darbar Sahib, inside a Gurdwara. Men and women usually sit on separate sides of the hall. Along with these main functions, the gurdwaras around the world also serve the Sikh community in many other ways including, libraries of Sikh literature, schools to teach children Gurmukhi (Sikh script), the Sikh scriptures and charitable work in the wider community on behalf of Sikhs.
BUDDHIST UNIVERSITY The Central University for Tibetan Studies (CUTS) originally called Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (CIHTS), is a university institute founded in Sarnath, Varanasi, India in 1967, as an autonomous organization under Union Ministry of Culture. The CIHTS was founded by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru in consultation with Tenzin Gyatso, the Dalai Lama, with the aim of educating the youths of Tibet in exile in Dharamsala and the Himalayan border students, as well as with the aim of retranslating into Sanskrit and translating into Hindi and other modern Indian languages lost Indo-Buddhist Sanskrit texts that now exist only in Tibetan . The institute steadily progressed and the Indian government declared it a Deemed University on April 5, 1988. The institute is currently headed by Prof. Ngawang Samten, assisted by faculty members, with the goal of achieving excellence in the field of Tibetology, Buddhology and Himalayan Studies. On 14 January 2009 this institute was officially declared as a university and the inauguration was made by His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama. Now the name of the university is Central University of Tibetan Studies.
