The Game:
The object of the game is to eliminate an opposing team by getting them OUT with a Live Ball
A Live Ball is described as a ball that has been thrown and has not touched anything, including
the floor, walls, nets, another ball, another player, official or other item outside the court
The first team to score 8 points or Most Wins within the time limit wins
You may get an opposing team member out by
o Catching a ball
o Hitting an opposing player (Headshots included)
o Your teammate catching a ball in the air that has bounced off another teammate
Boundaries:
Neutral Zone The court has a blue neutral zone in the middle of court in which all balls are
placed at the beginning of each game. You may only reach into to this zone with your upper
body to retrieve or block balls. If any part of your lower body touches, slips or falls into the
neutral zone you will be called OUT.
o Lower body includes: Toes, feet, ankle, leg, knee, thigh, hip or lower body. All calls are
subject to ref discretion.
Red Zone The court is outlined with a red zone on the outside of the court. The Red Zone
serves as a warning track for players of the back wall. The only time the Red Zone should be
used is at the beginning of each game. You will not be allowed use The Red Zone once the start
of each round begins
o This includes: sitting, standing, running, or laying
The Opening Rush:
Each round begins by placing (8) dodgeballs in the neutral zone of the court. (4 on each side of
neutral zone) Players take position on their teams side of the court. One foot must be placed on
the Red Zone and one foot in the court. Following a signal by the Ref, each player will run up to
the neutral zone to grab as many balls for their team. Once a ball is retrieved from the neutral
zone, the ball must be touched TWICE or taken back to the back wall to become LIVE Failure
to do so will result in the player to be called Out. If a Non-Live ball hits an opposing player,
that player is safe. Game may be paused to correct issue.

Time Limits and Winning a Round:
The first team to legally eliminate all opposing players will be declared the winner.
A 6 minute round limit has been set for every round to eliminate each team
If both teams are not eliminated after 6 minutes, the team with the most players on the court
will be declared the winner
If both teams have equal number of people on the court after 6 minutes, Sudden Death will be
called and the next person to be hit by a ball will be eliminated.
Each game will last approximately 45 minutes and will be timed by a visible clock
5 Second Violation
This rule is applied to avoid Stalling. When the team in the lead controls all the balls (8 balls
total) the ref will begin a 5 second countdown. A warning call Throw The Balls will alert the
stalling team to throw their balls. If the controlling team still does not throw any balls, the REF
will call a timeout, remove 4 balls from the Stalling team and give them to the opposing team.
The time will be restarted and the game will resume. Same goes for tied teams.
Substitutions
Your team is allowed to substitute players during the game and in between rounds
An in game substitution can only happen when a teammate catches a ball in the air or a ball
that is caught in the air off a teammates body part that is thrown by an opposing team during a
live round. A ball that hits another ball, another player, the ground, net or walls and then is
caught in the air by a teammate does not count as an out nor allow for a substitution
1 substitution is allowed for every catch as long as the 10 person max is not exceeded
Substitutions during a Live round must go BOY/GIRL or GIRL/BOY when applicable
Substitutions must follow the rule of first person out goes to the back of the line to keep repeat
players from subbing in unfairly and allow equal play for everyone
A team may also sub as many people as needed in between rounds
Entering and Exiting a Live Game
Once you enter into a Live Game you must place your hand over your head until you are set
into position. This signal allows the Ref and the opposing teams know that you are entering the
game and not yet considered an Active Player.
Once your hand is removed from your head, you touch or pick up a ball you will be considered
an Active Player and subject to being called out if hit by a ball.
If you are exiting the court during a Live Game due to being called OUT! Place your hands
over your head to signal to the Ref and the other team you are no longer an Active Player.
You may not touch any balls once while you are exiting the game once you are called Out.
Doing so will result in a time out by the ref and 2 balls given to the opposing team.

You are not allowed to throw balls from the neutral zone into your teams court when entering
or exiting during a Live Game. Doing so will result in a possible timeout by the Ref and balls
sent to the other team as a penalty.
Blocking
You may use a ball or multiple balls to block an opponents throw
Once an opponents ball hits another ball either by being blocked or the ball is hit mid air by
another ball, the contacted balls are considered dead.
If your blocking ball is hit by an opponents ball resulting in your dropping your blocking ball to
the ground, you will be called OUT!
A player is allowed to drop his or her blocking ball to catch an incoming ball. As long as the
opponents ball did not make contact with the players blocking ball, it is considered a legal
move
Catching A Ball
A player is allowed to catch an opposing players ball. When a player catches the opposing
players ball he or she is out. If the team has less than 10 players on the court, a sub may be
allowed to come into the game at this time
If a player is hit by a ball before catching an opponents ball, the catch does not count and the
opposing player is not out
A teammate may save a fellow teammate if the ball is caught in the air after hitting a teammate
on his or her body first.
Over Time
If two teams are tied after 45 minutes of game play, a sudden death round will be played.
The first team to eliminate all players on the opposing team or the team with the most players
on the court after 6 minutes round time will be declared the winner
Rules
During regular season play the league is expected to play by the Honor System. A player must
decide if he or she was hit legally and take themselves out of the game.
(2) Refs will be onsite during all games in assisting in calling players out, legal hits, 5 second
violations and out of bounds.
A Ref has the power to call a time out during the game to enforce a call
The Refs calls and decisions are FINAL. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Forfeits
If a team forfeits a game the forfeiting team takes a LOSE as well an automatic (-5) points
All forfeits must be called by 3pm at the latest of game day to avoid a $25 forfeit penalty.
Timeouts
The refs are the only ones who have the authority to call time outs.
When a ref calls timeout all game play must stop, until the ref is off the court and in proper
position to call time in.
