Oil Based Mud Checksheet


No. Check points: Main deck and Pt room. Done
1 Visually inspect mud take on hose.
2 Check condition of Avery-Hardol valve if fitted.
3 Ensure hose floation collars are in place.
4 Inspect base oilfixed containment areas. (Dry and bungs fitted)
5 Barge Eng / Mud Eng has informed all parties of SOBM required & into what tank(s).
6 Good communications between Barge Eng, C/ Op & Master of Vessel.
7 No hot work in progess around deck take-on manifold.
8 Crane to be manned throughout operation
9 Pti volumes to be taken prior to receiving SOBM
10 Stand-by man with radio monitoring SOBM hose at Manifold & boat
11 Hoses are long enough to allow Vessel to manoeuvre.
12 Hoses not tangled up (preventing other hoses from being used / moved).
13 Deck manifold valve OPEN after performing the above.
14 Line up to mud pits all valves OPEN to receive.
16 Derrickman to be in radio contact with Crane operator.
17 Derrickman to inform Crane Operator when ready to receive SOBM.
18 Derrickman to inform Crane Operator that the rig is receiving SOBM
19 Derrickman to inform Crane Operator to stop pumping on reaching the required
volume
20 Avery-Hardol valve is closed correctly if fitted
21 Hose to be drained back through manifold as much as is feasible
22 Deck manifold take-on valve CLOSED and locked off.
23 Tank fill valve CLOSED.
24 Final pit volumes to be taken and Barge Engineer informed.

After disconnecting Base oil hose from Supply Vessel.
Checks below to be performed before and during fuel oil transfer from Supply Vessel and signed off by
OIM/Toolpusher/B.E. as a record of commencement of spill protected operations.
Obtain A Work permit and conduct JSA Meeting.
After connecting loading hose to vessel and before pumping Base oil.

2 Check condition of Avery-Hardol valve if fitted.
3 Ensure hose floation collars are in place.
4 Pressure test fuel oil hose by rig air @ full pressure & hold five minutes,
monitor pressure reading & ensure no pressure drop in hose.
5 Inspect OBM fixed containment areas. (Dry and bungs fitted)
6 Mud Eng has informed all parties of OBM required & into what Pit(s).
7 Good communications between AD / Drkmna / Barge Eng, C/ Op & Master of Vessel.
8 No hot work in progess around deck take-on manifold.
9 Crane to be manned throughout operation
10 Accurate tank soundings to be taken prior to receiving OBM
11 Stand-by man with radio monitoring OBM hose at Manifold.
12 Hoses are long enough to allow Vessel to manoeuvre.
13 Hoses not tangled up (preventing other hoses from being used / moved).
14 Deck manifold valve OPEN after performing the above.
15 Mud Pit (s) OPEN to receive.
16 Check all other mud pit valaves are close
17 AD / Derrickman to be in radio contact with Crane operator.
18 AD / Derrickman to inform Crane Operator when ready to receive OBM.
19 AD / Derrickman to inform Crane Operator that the rig is receiving base oil
20 AD / Derrickman to inform Crane Operator to stop pumping on reaching the required
volume
20 Avery-Hardol valve is closed correctly if fitted
21 Hose to be drained back through manifold as much as is feasible
22 Deck manifold take-on valve CLOSED and locked off.
23 All valves leading to mud pits are CLOSED.
24 Final volume to be taken and Barge Engineer / Mud Eng informed.
