Vegas this fall.
The new PBA Champions
Challenge will culminate with
the tops stars of the PBA50
Tour, PBA Regional Tour, the
new PBA Womens Regional
Tour, and the Teen Masters
boys and girls division champi-
ons bowling in the four-match
television show at the South
Point Casino complex over the
Nov. 1-2 weekend. Preliminary
rounds in the PBA50, Womens
and Regional competitions will
be covered live on PBAs online
bowling channel, Xtra Frame.
PBA World Series of Bowling
VI will take place Oct. 24-Nov.
2 at South Point Bowling Center
in Las Vegas. The World Series
will include the PBA Cheetah,
Scorpion, Chameleon and Viper
Championships along with the
PBA World Championship in
addition to the newly-announced
special competitions.
The new PBA Champions
Challenge telecast gives us an
opportunity to showcase the
diversity of competition the
PBA provides, PBA
Commissioner Tom Clark said.
It will focus attention on our
senior players, the legion of
players who compete in our
extensive regional program,
women bowlers who have had
very few opportunities to bowl
on national television over the
past few years, and the future
stars of bowling. Itll be a very
entertaining two hours of televi-
sion, and it will add another
dimension to our already popu-
lar World Series of Bowling.
The PBA50 Tour Finals will
feature the top six players from
the 2014 PBA50 Tour competi-
tion points list. All six will
receive a free entry into WSOB
VI. The PBA50 players will
compete in a six-game
Champions Challenge Match
Play Round on Friday, Oct. 24.
The top two players at the end of
the match play round will
advance to the ESPN-televised
PBA50 Tour Finals.
The PBA Regional Tour Finals
will feature the 2014 competi-
tion points leader from each of
the seven PBA regions (East,
South, Central, Midwest,
Southwest and West/Northwest)
as of Oct. 12. All seven will
receive a free entry into the
WSOB. On Friday, Oct. 24, the
West and Northwest points lead-
ers will bowl a two-game match
with the winner advancing to the
six-player PBA Regional
Champions Challenge Match
Play Round. The top two players
after the six-game match play
round will advance to the ESPN
televised PBA Regional Tour
Finals.
The PBA Womens Regional
Tour Finals will feature the
points leaders from six PBA
Regional Womens Tour pro-
grams (East, South, Central,
Midwest, Southwest and
West/Northwest combined).
Each will receive a free entry
into the World Series. The six
qualifiers will bowl the same
Champions Challenge Match
Play Round format as the
PBA50 and PBA Regional play-
ers on Friday, Oct. 24 with the
top two advancing to the PBA
Regional Womens Finals
match.
The fourth match on the PBA
Champions Challenge ESPN
telecast will be a non-PBA
event. The 2014 Teen Masters
Grand Championship will fea-
ture the boys and girls division
champions who survive prelimi-

There is no such thing as tour-
nament time---because there are
fine tournaments being conduct-
ed 12 months of the year.
Ever stop to think of how
many bowling tournaments are
available in the world each
year? An educated guess might
put the figure at more than
10,000.
There are big money, small
money and no money tourna-
ments. There are family, school,
church, business, profession,
city, county, state, sectional,
national, zone, continent and
world tournaments. There are
pro tournaments and amateur
tournaments and pro-amateur
tournaments.
There are singles, doubles and
team tournaments. There are
events for boys, girls, men,
women and mixed covering
every age. There are sibling
tournaments, husband and wife,
father and son, mother and
daughter, and any other rela-
tionship tournaments.
There are club tournaments
and shop tournaments and
office tournaments and religious
tournaments. There are tourna-
ments for people who can't see
or can't walk or can't hear.
And with all that only a small
percentage of the number and
scope of the variety of bowling
tournaments staged annually
have been touched upon.
Yet, many bowlers never have
rolled in a tournament.
Let it be known that there is a
tournament for every bowler,
regardless of the size of your
average---or budget. Look
through any bowling publica-
tion, check the desk or bulletin
board at your bowling centers
and read all your communica-
tions and you're sure to find one
or two tournaments designed
just for you.
Tournament bowling is the
extra icing on the bowling cake.
Tournament bowling is fun,
and always profitable. It isn't
always profitable in a financial
sense, though many have won
cash, merchandise, trips, and
other goodies, large and small.
But you always enter into a new
and exciting phase of the sport
where the competition is differ-
ent but the game is the same.
How can you tell if a tourna-
ment is a good one? Check out
those conducting the tourna-
ment, where it is being run, and
read closely all the rules and fine
print on the entry blank. A tour-
nament survives only if bowlers
are given a fair shake and tour-
naments don't last unless they
have needed participation.
In many tournaments, particu-
larly local and state and nation-
al association events, plus most
charity tournaments, many ded-
icated people work hours that
would stagger the imagination.
In some tournaments you can
win six figures or more. In oth-
ers you can't win much more
than satisfaction in being a play-
er, and maybe a title and trophy,
be it thimble size or taller than
you are.
You can't gain the full rewards
bowling offers unless you roll in
tournaments even now and then.
So give your local or state
tournament a whirl. Don't miss
some of the fine competition
your local center offers. Check
out tournament clubs. There is
as wide a variety in tournaments
as there is in the aims of bowlers
but bowlers can find the right
one with a little effort.
If you've never rolled a tour-
nament, roll one in the near
future. If you have, roll one
more.
Storm, Roto Grip, Master Will
Sponsor Junior Gold Championships
ARLINGTON Storm Products Inc. and International Bowling Campus
Youth Development have agreed on a sponsorship deal that will make
Storm, Roto Grip and Master the presenting sponsors of the Junior Gold
Championships.
The Junior Gold Championships presented by Storm, Roto Grip and
Master is a two-year agreement that will cover the 2015 event in Chicago
and the 2016 tournament in Cleveland.
Storm Products, which began operation in 1985 under the name High
Score Products, purchased the Roto Grip brand in 1997 and the Master
brand in 2012. Roto Grip produces balls, bags and accessories while
Master manufactures high-performance accessories including wrist sup-
ports, shoe accessories and pro shop products.
Our purpose at Storm is to Grow the Sport of bowling and it is vital for
us to engage and support young bowlers, ensuring that we are proactively
living that purpose, Storm president Dave Symes said. Junior Gold is an
outstanding tournament, having just completed its 16th year of competi-
tion, setting record participation numbers in the process.
Our sponsorship goal is to not only keep the tournament thriving in that
direction but also to enhance it, all while showcasing the young bowling
stars of the not-so distant future.
As part of the agreement, the champions in the U20 division will receive
a one-year Dream Staff position which includes an all-expenses-paid trip
to Storm headquarters where they will to go through Staff Camp. Also, spe-
cial clinics will be conducted for Junior Gold competitors.
Participants in the Survivor Tournament, held each year in conjunction
with the Junior Gold Championships, will have the opportunity to purchase
a Roto Grip bowling ball at a discounted price and staff members also will
be available to participants during the Junior Gold Championships.
Were thrilled to have Storm Products on board as a sponsor and appre-
ciate their support of the Junior Gold Championships and youth bowling,
USBC Executive Director Chad Murphy said.
The Junior Gold program is coming off the most successful season in its
history with more than 5,000 youth bowlers becoming Junior Gold mem-
bers in 2013-2014 season, shattering the record of 4,376 members who
joined the Junior Gold program last season.
The first Junior Gold tournament was held in 1998 at the National
Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., and drew 538 participants. Nearly 2,500
youth bowlers took part in the 2014 Junior Gold Championships held in the
Buffalo, N.Y., area in July.
Omaha to Host
2015 USBC
Convention
ARLINGTON, Texas The 2015
United States Bowling Congress
Convention and Annual Meeting
will shift to Omaha, Neb., and will
take place April 27-30.
The 2015 USBC Convention
will take place at the Ramada
Plaza Omaha, and also will start a
day earlier than previously
announced. The final day of the
Annual Meeting, which includes
the legislative session, will take
place Thursday, April 30. The con-
vention originally was scheduled
for Indianapolis.
We had an outstanding conven-
tion in 2014 and were excited to
take the 2015 USBC Convention
to a site that is centrally located,
said USBC Executive Director
Chad Murphy. We have worked
closely with the Ramada Plaza
Omaha to provide a venue that
will be cost-effective for the dele-
gates and we apologize for any
inconvenience we might have
caused by making the venue
change.
The USBC Convention features
seminars, updates from industry
leaders and the presentation of
national awards. Delegates to the
Annual Meeting vote on USBC
Board of Director positions and
legislative proposals.
Las Vegas will serve as host city
for the 2016 and 2017 conven-
tions. The convention in 2016
coincides with the opening of the
new $30 million bowling tourna-
ment facility at South Point Hotel
and Casino that will be the site of
the 2016 USBC Womens
Championships.
