Meeting point of the Spleen channel with
the Yin Linking vessel
LOCATION
On the abdomen, in the depression at the lateral border of
the rectus abdominis muscle, 3 cun superior to Daheng
SP-15. Note: in some patients with a narrow subcostal
angle, this point may fall on the costal margin; the options
then are to i. locate more medially, ii. needle transversely
on the costal margin, iii. select a different point.
LOCATION NOTE
This point is normally defined as 4 cun lateral to the
midline, and on the abdomen the 4 cun line is located at
the lateral border of the rectus abdominis muscle.
NEEDLING
Perpendicular insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.
Caution: i. in thin patients deep needling may penetrate
the peritoneal cavity; ii. deep needling at this point may
penetrate an enlarged spleen.
ACTIONS
Regulates the intestines
INDICATIONS
Periumbilical pain, cold of the abdomen, undigested
food (in the stool), dysenteric disorder, stool contain-
ing pus and blood, constipation.
COMBINATIONS
Undigested food (in the stool): Fuai SP-16 and Taibai
SP-3 (Supplementing Life).
