1. Two physical developmental milestones that typically developing children achieve during
this period of development.
One specific physical developmental milestone that a youngster who is in their
infancy/toddlerhood phase is expected to achieve is to launch themselves into an upright pose.
Secondly Youngsters who are progressing from infancy to toddlerhood should be able to take
steps while bracing themselves using a sturdy foundation or other type of assistance
(nlm.nih.gov, 2013).
2. Two language developmental milestones that typically developing children should
achieve in this period of development.
By the way, one particular language developmental milestone of a youngster who is
transforming from infancy to toddlerhood is that they should be able to articulate the phrase
mama and dada in an acceptable way. Furthermore, youngsters in this period are expected to
master pronouncing their first as well as their last name (nlm.nih.gov, 2013).
3. Two cognitive developmental milestones that typically developing children should achieve in
this period of development.
Meanwhile, one milestone of cognitive matter a youngster should achieve is that they should
be capable of comprehending the word no and will cease what they are doing as a means of
reciprocation. Secondly, they should be able to replicate an image such as a line (when
shown the image (nlm.nih.gov, 2013).
4. Social emotional Developmental milestones. One specific social milestone that a child in
this stage of development achieves is that they know how to exhibit a social smile. However
another significant milestone a child in this stage of development also achieves is that they
are capable of waiting their turn when it comes to toys.
5. Moral reasoning/Self regulation. The first milestone in this area would be that they start
to illustrate how they are capable of being sympathetic towards other people based on the
objective of their own judgments .Secondly, by the time they get towards the end of this
stage of development they are beginning to know what an authority figure is and realize they
mean business when they speak (Berk, 2013).
6. Social & Cultural Influences. The way in which social factors influence a childs
development is through their association with other children. Children in this stage of
development enjoy being with ,and interacting with other people that they are familiar with
rather than those they do not know at all(cde.ca.gov,2014).By the way, the way in which
cultural factors influence a childs development depends on how much if any nurturing a the
child receives from their parents or caregivers. Parents who build a bond with their child will
end up having a child who feels safe as well as cared for (Childwelfare.gov, n.d).
7. One sign that may signal atypical development during this period of development.

During the infant /toddlerhood phase of development if the child does not reply yes or no
to easy questions then that is an indication of a bigger problem. Another sign that there could
be a problem with the childs development is they become stalled in the area of social
interaction with other classmates as well as being unable to evolve their playing technique
(Florida health.gov, 2009).
8. One strategy that families can use to influence their childrens learning and development
during this period of development.
Something that a parent can do to influence their childs learning and development would
be to sit down and look through a picture book while pointing out pictures and asking them
questions about the picture(American speech and hearing association, 1997 2014).
Furthermore, another technique that family members could utilize would be to provide a
variety of surroundings for their child to practice their skills and also experience real- life
situations (nalponline.org, 2002).
