INTERNSHIP PROJECT SUMMARY
India is currently the worlds 8 th largest consumer of oil .It is expected to rise to 5 th by 2025.A countrys economic growth is closely correlated to the energy demand. Consequently, the demand for oil and gas, which is one of the main sources of meeting energy requirements, is expected to increase further. The value of the Indian oil and gas sector is forecasted to grow from US$ 117,562.9 million in 2012 (estimated) to US$ 139,814.7 million by 20151.20 refineries support the refining capacity of 190 MMTPA , crude and pipeline network of over 7000 kilometers, storage terminals and bottling plants and fleet of ongoing tankers on time and road tankers The report has been divided into 4 different chapters. The first chapter gives an overview about the global oil and gas refining sector majorly stating different aspects followed by different countries world wide The following chapter tends to give a brief about the Indian petroleum industry which is followed by a company profile about HPCL and its competitors, their area of operations. Furthermore , SWOT AND Porters 5 force analysis of HPCL has been stated in order to get a glimpse of various aspects of HPCL in regards to its competitors The third chapter consists of 2 parts HSE Policy Comparisons::This part deals with a comparative analysis of HSE policies of Indian companies stating their environmental expenditure, Percentage of Profit after tax spent the environment, their product sales volume, different emissions and waste management and water consumption patterns. Financial Ratio Analysis:In this financial ratios of HPCL are compared with BPCL and IOCL for the past 5 years .Their profitability analysis is done with the help of correlation and multiple regression techniques with the help of STSAT software HSE Index Comparisons:It is a value obtained in percentage stating the different aspects of how employers, workers and those in control of the factory or premises specify the workplace incidents that occur and well as the training and procedures followed by them for better organizational reach .In HPCL, there are different zones all over India, where this HSE Index is reported and a comparison is done in-order to make necessary changes in the health, safety and environment aspect of each zone and refinery The last and final part of this report covers a firefighting strategy that was developed for fighting a storage tank fire which cause loss to environment and as well as companys asset. A new strategy known as HAZMAT was developed which was as per Indian (OISD 117) and international standards (NFPA 11, API RP2021). 2013 HSE Management and Policies of Oil refineries in India
Each and every chapters findings and recommendations are stated separately at the end of the chapter to give the reader knowledge about conclusions of health, safety and environment aspect of oil refineries in India In this regards, my whole experience with HPCL was excellent and made me understand the practical applications of the subjects that we learn during our MBA course .However I got an insight into the Government enterprise working policies and structure and different modes of communications that an employee has to follow while dealing with different kind of people. I am happy for getting this opportunity to work and do my internship project under the guidance of Mr S V rao and Rohan Mehra sir ,under whose guidance , I learned a lot and last but not the least Amity Mumbai for giving me this opportunity
