Executive Summary
The third phase of Field Monitoring of UNICEF response in the flood affected areas started from October
15th, 2012 and would continue till 31
st
December 2012. The purpose of this intervention is to monitor
distribution supplies and delivery of services to the population living in flood affected areas of Punjab
(province of Pakistan). The program also monitors utilization of supplies and services by the affected
people, activities of Implementing Partners (IP) and situation in the communities. The outcome of the field
visits is shared with the Programs in form of fortnightly reports. The fortnightly progress report covering
the period October 17
th
to October 31 summarizes the observations made by the monitors of PEX
consulting Pakistan (Islamabad, Pakistan). The detailed reports in form of filled in checklists are available
in UNICEF Hub Office Multan for review by the interested readers. Five Monitoring Teams (each
comprising one male and one female member) visited the following areas during this week.
Team A visited EmONC health facility in District Mianwali BHU Laalo Khel,BHU Dhok Ayoub,BHU

Major Findings
Mainwali district:
In EmONc center BHU Moosa Khel and Dhok Ayoub an ambulance facility was not available.
In Emonc center BHU chak#4 DB some time cotton sheet is missed at the day of visit date.21/10/12
there were two sheets were missed.
In Education GGES kalri and Rikhi has been upgraded into High school that is why the primary
portion and high portion buildings was separated that is why there was lack of communication between
staff and Head of school.
In GGHS kalri in primary portion Kids room was not established.
District Sargodha :
In GGPS Hathi Wind kids room was not established due to lack and budget.
In GGES chak# 3 NB Kid room was established in corridor.
District Khushab:
In district khushab CMAM practice was closed in August and EmONC practice was not
started.

Health Monitoring
In Mianwali district, visited EmONC centers those were functional in tehsil for EmONC monitoring and
found the following.
BHU Laalo Khel, all essential drugs were available at the facility except syntocinon.
Labor room, surrounding area and cleanliness of facility was good.
Patient took placenta back with them for safe disposal.
They demanded reliever for aye.
In government staff one LHV,Midwife,Sanitary Worker and watchman appointed from PRSP.
One EmONC perform his duty in morning and second in evening shift.
BHU Moosa Khel, labor room condition was poor. All essential drugs were not available.
An ambulance was not available and in government staff one midwife appointed from PRSP.
Patient took placenta back with them for safe disposa.
BHU Dhok Ayoub: in government staff medical officer seat and midwife was not filled.
An ambulance was not available and also alternate was not arranged.
All essential medicines were available at facility.
Labor room, cleanliness of surrounding area and compound was satisfactory.
Sometime from new born kits missed.
They demanded heater, electric board and oxygen.

Empowering Child through participation project (ECCP)
In Mianwali district, team visited ECC P established in Abba Khel and found the following.
ECCP Abba Khel: Child right club and youth forum was established in Abba khel. Visited the site the
member of CRCs are aware about their role and YF member ware also clear about their role.
CRCs monthly meeting was held regularly and youth forum meeting was held at district level.
Seminar was held at district level for awareness about key child right issues and protection.
Child dialogues session with officers were in pipe line.
IEC material was developed in type of sticker.
The newsletter record was not available.
Capacity building workshop was held at district level.

Education Child Friendly School (CFS)
In district Sargodha team A visited CFS and found the following.
CFS GGPS Hathi wind: initial training record was not available and training material list was not
available and refresher training was held in Jun 2011.
Monthly assessment feedback was not provided to parents.
IP TARC did not visit to school in 2012.
Record of supply (taleemi Basta) was not available.
Kids room was not established due to lack of rooms.
Walls were painted and colorful display.
They do not have furniture.
CFS GGES Chake#3 NB: enrollment record of student of October 2011 was not available .National
CFS stander copy was not available.
School development plan was not in written form.
TARC did not visit monthly.
Record of supply (taleemi Basta) was not available because was not provided.
Kids room established in corridor.
Enrollment of ECE student increased after establishing kids room.
CFS GGES Chaba Purana: enrollment record of student of October 2011 was not available at the
day of visit. UPE record was not available because head of school was at leave.
Two toilets were functional out of four and water facility in toilets was not.

Kids room was established and enrollment of student enhanced.
CFS GGES Khan Muhammad Wala: kids room was established, five girls was dropout from last
month.
Two toilets were functional out of three.

For ECE student furniture was not available and the enrollment was decreased due to private school
education.

Nineteen student drop out the school last month.
