1.0 INTRODUCTION
(Computer Network And Communication)
A computer network is a group of interconnected computers. Networks may be
classified according to a wide variety of characteristics. This article provides a general
overview of some types and categories and also presents the basic components of a
network. Computer network is a collection of computers and devices connected to each
other. The network allows computers to communicate with each other and share
resources and information. The Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) designed
"Advanced Research Projects Agency Network" (ARPANET) for the United States
Department of Defense. It was the first computer network in the world in late 1960s and
early 1970s.
Communication is the process of transferring information from one source to another.
Communication is commonly defined as "the imparting or interchange of thoughts,
opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs. Communication can be perceived as
a two-way process in which there is an exchange and progression of thoughts, feelings or
ideas towards a mutually accepted goal or direction. Communication as an academic
discipline has a long history. Communication is a process whereby information is
encoded and imparted by a sender to a receiver via a channel/medium. The receiver then
decodes the message and gives the sender a feedback. Communication requires that all
parties have an area of communicative commonality. There are auditory means, such as
speaking, singing and sometimes tone of voice, and nonverbal, physical means, such as
body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eye contact, by using writing.

2.0 MOBILE COMPUTING
2.1 Definition Of Mobile Computing
Mobile Computing is about the new strategies of computing that utilities portable
or mobile devices and wireless communication network. There are various types
of mobile computing devices. They include the notebook computer, tablet PC,
handheld computer, PDA and smartphone.

3.0 INTERNET AND TECHNOLOGY
3.1 VoIP

Voice Over Internet Protocol is one of the Internet technology that allows
a user to make telephone calls using a broadband Internet connection.
Broadband Internet access (cable or DSL) is required, and regular house
phones plug into an analog telephone adapter (ATA) provided by the
company or purchased from a third party. There are three different VoIP
service in common use today. They are Analog Telephone Adapter
(ATA ), IP Phones and computer-to-computer.

3.2 BLOG

A blog (web log or weblog) is one of the popular activities on the Internet.
Besides that, is a lot like a journal except it is generally intended to be read
by others. The topics for blogs very greatly; some being about day to day
activities and others taking a more corporate or political slant. There is no
defined or widely accepted format and so blogs range from one liners that
the author adds every few hours to relatively long, well thought out
arguments for or against a topic of interest. The world of blogging also
referred as BLOGOSPHERE. Another new term is the blogonomics,
which refer to people using the blogosphere to generate money. The post
to a blog are usually arranged in the folder, the most recent entries will
always can be on top of the journal.
4.0 TYPES OF NETWORK
4.1 Personal Area Network (PAN)
A Personal Area Network (PAN) is a computer network used for
communication among computer devices including telephones, PCs,
laptop, digital cameras, video game consoles and personal digital
assistants, close to one person. The devices may or may not belong to the
person in question. The reach of a PAN is typically a few meters. PANs
can be used for communication among the personal devices themselves
(intrapersonal communication), or for connecting to a higher level network

and the Internet (an uplink). Personal area networks may be wired with
computer buses such as USB port and FireWire port. A wireless personal
area network (WPAN) can also be made possible with network
technologies such as Infrared (IrDA) and Bluetooth technologies.

4.2 Virtual Private Network (VPN)

A virtual private network (VPN) extends a private network across a public
network, such as the Internet. It enables a computer to send and receive
data across shared or public networks as if it were directly connected to
the private network, while benefitting from the functionality, security and
management policies of the private network.[1] This is done by
establishing a virtual point-to-point connection through the use of
dedicated connections, encryption, or a combination of the two.
A VPN connection across the Internet is similar to a wide area network
(WAN) link between the sites. From a user perspective, the extended
network resources are accessed in the same way as resources available
from the private network.
VPNs allow employees to securely access their company's intranet while
traveling outside the office. Similarly, VPNs securely and cost effectively
connect geographically disparate offices of an organization creating one

cohesive virtual network. VPN technology is also used by ordinary
Internet to connect to proxy servers for the purpose of protecting one's
identity.

4.3 Wireless LAN (WLAN)

A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a wireless local area network that links two
or more computers or devices using spread-spectrum or OFDM
modulation technology based to enable communication between devices
in a limited area. This gives users the mobility to move around within a
broad coverage area and still be connected to the network.
For the home user, wireless has become popular due to ease of installation,
and location freedom with the gaining popularity of laptops. Public
businesses such as coffee shops or malls have begun to offer wireless
access to their customers; some are even provided as a free service. Large
wireless network projects are being put up in many major cities: New
York City, for instance, has begun a pilot program to cover all five
boroughs of the city with wireless Internet access.

4.4 Worldwide Interoperability For Microwave Access (WIMAX)

WIMAX, short for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a
technology that allows wide area high-speed wireless broadband. WIMAX
can be deployed over great distances to connect users to data services, like
the internet, wirelessly. Currently, WIMAX hasn't seen wide deployment
across the United States, though wireless provider Sprint has recently
launched its XOHM network based on WIMAX in Baltimore, MD. A
consortium of companies, however, has banded together to release
widespread WIMAX access under the name Clearwire. WIMAX shares
few technical similarities with the similarly named technology WiFi.
WIMAX is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless
transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-
multipoint links to portable and fully mobile internet access.

5.0 CONCLUSION
Nowadays, many people use computer to do their work. In this assignment, we can know
what is the meaning of computer network and communication. Computer network is a
group of interconnected computers. Communications means the process of transferring
information from one source to another. Besides that, we also can get the meaning of
mobile computing. Mobile computing is a generic term describing one ability to use

technology while moving. Some examples of mobile computing are PDA phones and 3G
mobile phones. One example of PDA phone is BlackBerry Bold. We also can know about
Internet Technology and Services. VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol known as
Internet Telephony. A BLOG is a type of website. It is usually maintain by an individual
with regular entries of commentary
