It is an honour for me to say a few words with regards to this historical and
prestigious event. The first ever NASP World Championship where Namibia,
South Africa and the USA competed for the world crown was hosted in 2013 here
in South Africa. Now in 2014 we are honoured to host the first ever NASP Africa
Championship where the first time in the history of NASP more than three
countries will be participating. We welcome Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and
Zimbabwe to this championship.

Events are the livelihood of sport and competition is the principal purpose behind
the years of training and participation for our archers and coaches. For an archer
to compete on home soil provides a further incentive to excel. An event at home
can also be the catalyst for broader success the opportunity to introduce the
sport to new participants and increase profile, funding, provision of facilities,
influence prestige, both home and abroad. Of course we all consider Africa as our
home!

To stage a successful event can be one of the most rewarding experiences, but to
achieve this, the work and commitment needed from all those involved should
never be underestimated. Thank you for each and every individual and
organisation that made this event possible. Without you our children would not
have been able to enjoy this wonderful opportunity.

I pray that each and every archer will give his or her best and that NASP as a sport
will be triumphant. All our archers participating during this Africa Championship
are winners, never doubt that. You are the best that your country has to offer. To
our NASP-SA Development and Centreshot-SA Teams, thank you for providing
colour to the event. I know that there are archers amongst you today that will join
the national team soon.
