Sunnyside Last Week: In a Thursday night game the Blue Devils got back on
the winning track against the Badgers of Tucson High Magnet School. The Blue
Devils led most of the game and dominated on the defensive end. The Blue
Devils held the Badgers to 25 total yards in the first half. Sunnyside was not
much more effective as they ended the half with 27 yards of offense. The only
difference being that the Blue Devils got a highlight reel punt return from
senior Michael Grijalva. Grijalva evaded 3 tackles on his way to the 82 yard
touchdown return. The Badgers headed into the half with a 7-0 lead. On the
first possession of the 2nd half the Blue Devils drove 70 yards in 7:19 ending in
a 6 yard TD run by senior Anthony Peralta. The extra point attempt was missed
leaving the score at 13-0 in favor of the Blue Devils. The score stayed that way
until the final minute of the game. THMS scored on a 17 yard TD pass with 0:32
seconds left on the clock. They missed the extra point. 13-6 SHS. The Badgers
recovered an onside kick and took over at the 40 yard line. With 0:15.9 sec-
onds left the Badgers scored, tying the game at 13. It took 3 overtimes but the
Blue Devils were able to pull out the victory on a 10 yard Nick OHagin TD run.
OHagin scored 2 TDs in the overtime periods.
