1 Task
Introduction
The real-time visualization of energy data from the field level is a more and more
frequent requirement for an industrial control system.
It allows, for example, for viewing and monitoring the voltages, currents, and other
energy-specific key figures of a consumer or plant part.
In order to prevent additional engineering effort in the automation system (PLC),
the power meter is directly connected with the control system.
Overview of the automation task
The figure below provides an overview of the automation task.

Figure 1-1

Description of the automation task
The direct connection of the power meter allows direct visualization in the control
station and on request also permanent archiving.

3 Function Mechanisms of this Application
General overview

Figure 3-1

As can be seen in Figure 3-1, the application consists of two major software
components.
One component represents the faceplate that visualizes the Sentron PC power
meter within WinCC Runtime.
The second component is an "HMI data type" that defines the structure of all
available measured values. Direct access to the values of the power meter is
effected by specifying the "offset value".
These two components can be used in your own project without any additional
configuration effort.
The connection between WinCC Runtime and the power meter is established via
an Ethernet connection and the communication driver "Modicon Modbus TCP/IP".

3.1 "HMI data type" functionality

Figure 3-2

With an "HMI data type" a data structure can be pre-configured. From this structure
can then instance tags be created that directly refer to a data area in the
automation system (PLC) or other external devices.
The HMI data type "Sentron PAC" contains by default all measured values listed in
section 2.2.
Note
It is irrelevant whether the faceplate for Sentron PAC3200 or Sentron PAC4200
is used. Both faceplates visualize the same measured values by default.

If required, the HMI data type can also be adapted to your requirements. Further
information on the creation and operation of these data types can be found in the
help on WinCC Professional V11 at the following link:
http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/57341024

The data type contains 91 tags by default. These are 90 external tags representing
the values from the power meter and one internal tag representing the
"PAC_Index" value.

3.2 Functionality of the "Sentron PAC" faceplate

Figure 3-3

The faceplate provided by this application consists of several single screens.

Figure 3-4

For each measured value read out of the power meter there is one process screen.
Example: PAC3200_Voltage_PH_N for the voltage between phase and neutral
conductor.
In the respective process screen, the output fields for instantaneous, maximum,
and minimum values are distributed to the three levels "INST", "MAX", and "MIN".

Figure 3-5

The screens with the measured values are displayed at runtime in the
"PAC3200_Main" process screen using the screen window technology.
In this process screen, not only the graphical interface of the faceplate is defined
but also the order in which the screens are displayed at runtime when the operator
clicks the "F2" and "F3" buttons.
The order is defined in a list box that can be shown or hidden via level 6
"Engineering".
By default, the screens are called in the order which the operator knows from the
power meter.

Note
The screen names in the list box must be identical with the actual screen names
in the project tree.

Since there are no minimal values for the measured values "THD-R V" and "THD-R
I", a field with the inscription "INST" is configured on level 7 "Special", which is
displayed only when the user has the maximum values of these measured values
displayed at runtime.

Program details on the visibility of the INST, MAX, and MIN values
Depending on an internal counter tag "PAC_Index", the INST, MAX, and MIN
values of the respective measured value are displayed.

Also depending on the value of the "PAC_Index" tag, the objects on level 4

The "PAC_Index" tag is also contained in the HMI data type and must be created
for each visualized power meter.

You can now see the tags for all measured values.
9 Then go to the library folder unpacked in section 5.1 in the
Windows Explorer.

10 If you want to read out the data of a Sentron PAC3200,
