The Famco 100 (1 HP) vertical mill is de-
signed and built to give you more productive
efficiency per dollar invested than any ma-
chine in the field. The overall appearance of
this machine indicates its rugged construc-
tion. Ample rigidity has been built int o each
component of the machine so t hat an un-
usually high degree of precision is obtained.
The rugged construction and design allowed
Famco engineers to offer greater range in
table, saddle, knee, ram, and quill movements.
This wide travel range is further compli-
mented by an infinite selection of spindle
speeds from 120 to 4300 RPM as standard,
or an optional speed range of 75 to 2800 RPM
as special. Full horsepower is delivered t o the
spindle nose even at the lowest spindle speed.
All operating controls have been carefully
engineered and are conveniently positioned
for greater ease and convenience of operation.
INFINITE SPINDLE
SPEED CHANGES
Speed changes can be made
while the spindle is running
through an infinitely variable
speed adjustment handle. The
operator may preselect the
theoretical spindle speed on a
direct reading dial and adjust
to the ideal conditions of a
specific job without stopping
the spindle or removing the
cutting tool from the workpiece.

WIDE RANGE OF
SPINDLE SPEEDS
Twelve spind le speeds are provided in
a range of 80 RPM to 2100 RPM. Three
conveniently located speed change
levers have spring lock pin handles for
positive gear positioning. Motor jog
control and chamfered gear teeth
facilitate gear shifting.

The momentary contact, push-button
control station is remotely located from
the main control cabinet and positioned
for maximum operating convenience.
A fused transformer provides low volt-
age to control panel protecting per-
sonnel from high voltages. A non-fusible
main disconnect switch is provided for
the protection of maintenance person-
nei.The main motor is protected against
overloads by heater elements in the
magnetic reversing starter. All wiring
conforms to National Machine Tool

spindle head and transmission
This powerful Famco 2 HP production-type spindle head is
driven by a built-in motor for a more positive and direct
power source. The motor rotor, located at the rear of the ram
for balance, mounts directly on the first change gear shaft,
thus eliminating all unnecessary links in the transmission of
power. Smooth, quiet spindle speeds necessary for good sur-
face finishes are assured through the use of double keyed
sliding gear hubs in the transmission and lapped spiral bevel
gears in the final right angle reduction.
A forged alloy steel spindle, mounted on Timken precision
bearings, provides the rigidity necessary to meet the capacity
of this drive while the #40 National Standard taper in the
spindle nose insures maximum tool support and lasting accuracy.

Ruggedly Built
KNEE-SADDLE- TABLE
Extra-large construction of the knee, sad-
dle, and table provides ruggedness and
stability through wide bearing area and
heavy dovetail construction. The table is
supported through its full travel by over
20" of saddle length. This full contact area
is maintained even when the table is fully
extended and the overhang is at a max-
imum. The saddle rides on extra broad knee
ways which are over 12" wide, while the
knee hugs the column even under the
heaviest workpiece through a contact area
15" wide by 16" long. An opening between
the knee and the column face allows the
chips to pass through rather than build up
against the column. All lead screws are
heat treated alloy steel and supported by
Timken bearings for maximum rigidity.

LUBRICATION
Table-saddle ways, saddle-knee ways and
all lead screws can be lubricated in one
simple operation. With one pull of the
pump handle daily these points are lubri-
cated with a metered amount of oil flow
for lasting accuracy.
Easy to Use
OPERATING CONTROLS
Longitudinal, cross-feed and elevating
screw crank controls are all within easy
reach for the operator-no stretching.
Clamp levers are serrated enabling the
operator to locate the handle in a con-
venient clamping position. Extra large,
Offset type table handwheels provide the
sensitive 'feel" essential to precise hand
milling operations and have the size and
balance necessary for rapid hand
traversing.

POWER FEED 2 HP
The power feed used on the 200 mill is similar in operation to
that of the 100 mill. The reversing drum switch used on the 100
series is replaced by law voltage, momentary contact push but-
tons and is interlocked with the spindle magnetic reversing
starter.
RAISING BLOCK
Two sizes of raising blocks, 6" or 1 0",
mounted between the column and the
ram sadd le wi ll increase the height be-
tween the spindle nose and table top
on either the 100 or 200 mill.
A 6" block on a 100 mill increases
the range to a 6" minimum and a 26"
maximum opening while a 10" block
allows a 1 0" minimum opening and a
30" maximum.
FAMCO TRUEcTRACE
Both the series 100 and the 200 mills may be equipped
with a Famco True-Trace hydraulic tracing attach-
ment. The tracer controlled mill is offered in three
models: 1 D, hydraulic control of vertical rise and
fall of knee only; 2D, hydraulic control of table and
saddle movements only; 3D, completely hydraulic
control of knee, table and saddle.
Models 2D and 3D ore provided with an extra
large table-1 0" x 50" and attached model table 1 0"
x 14" for increased range.
Al l models ore equipped with extra large cylinders
and husky support brackets for the needed rigidity
and capacity required by precision reproduction
work in all metals.
Sensitive stylus operates on only 4 ounces of finger-
tip pressure so that models and templates need not
be of durable materials. Write for separate bulletin
on tracing attachment.
A 6" block on a 200 mill increases
the range to a 8V2" minimum and a
28V2" maximum opening while a 10"
block allows a 12V2" minimum opening
and a 321fz" maximum.
